Based on my opinion and experience with New Planet Moving, I would advise everyone to stay away!!! They were absolutely the worst moving company I have ever dealt with. The sent an undersized truck for the move, and it took them to bring another truck several days later than contracted to get all of our stuff in it. Then over a dozen things, including antiques and furniture items came damaged. Some items did not include promised furniture wraps. Boxes clearly marked fragile, were piled at the bottom of heaps of boxes with books in them and everything.
After 7 months of haggling with them, and thier "claims processing department", they denied my claim because I beleive New Planet falsified documents to the claims processing about my move. I submitted a letter and pictures to the moving company (burned on a cd, and labeled by me because I did not have a printer hooked up yet), and the same letter to the claims processing department (several months later, so I printed it out on my computer). However, the moving company submitted a CD to the "claims processing department" that did not have any labelng on it (hmmm... could it be a different CD??) with a letter (not signed by me), that was different than the letter I sent to the "claims processing department" (a highly suspect company in NY, that I am not totally convinced is a big scam...maybe relatives in NY??). After 7 months of jumping through hoops, a lady from the Claims processing department calls me up and accuses me of fraud for changing the letter, and denies the entire claim. She states I added some furniture items to the letter not in the original, yet the furniture items in question are on the inventory list from the day of moving as being damaged, so I asked her why on earth would I not include them in the original letter?? She tells me that "I don't know why people commit fraud". I stated everything in the letter is 100% ture. She tells me if I pursue this even further, she will report me to some company that will effect my ability to get home owners insurance, car insurance and everything. I feel extremely bullied, and don't know what to do anymore. I have done nothing wrong. I don't even know if this claims processing department in Staten Island is even a real company.

DO NOT USE NEW PLANET MOVING AND STORAGE

I forgot to mention that new planet grossly underestimated my move by over 6,000 lb, even though I did a thorough walk through with them. With my husband, they told him the truck they went and weighed the was already at 12,000 and only 2/3rds full. My husband told them to keep packing it until it was full, and then escorted them to the weigh station, and it was barely 12,000 lb with the truck completely full!
With the second shipment, my husband unfortunately was working, and couldn't escort them to the weigh station. They then refused to provide me weigh slips at drop off, and demanded payment before they would unload anything, or they would just take my stuff with them. I called the owner and he said I should be happy they moved so much stuff, since they stuffed 12,000 lb in a truck rated for 10,000 lb the first move. Their drivers informed me that it took them longer to get to our house because they had to apparently had to pull off the highway before each weigh station, so they wouldn't get found carrying extra weight than what the truck was weighted for, otherwise they would either have to wait for another truck, or "throw some stuff off".
They seemed proud to tell me they didn't have to do that for me. Seems to explain why some customers items suddenly disappear?? Use New planet at your own risk!!
