We arrived in NY 10/26/2007 to take a 2 day No-Where Cruise only to be greeted by Employees handing out Flyers state that on the previous Cruise of thr Norwegian Dawn that approximately 5 % of the Passeners have become sick and we had a choice of going or not, but they were in the process of sanitizing the ship which resulted in getting on the ship late of which then we had to waut while they ready the room first which was complted by 3 pm the by 4pm of which they did. Upon boarding our hands had to be sparyed with antbacterial spray. Now once on board service was poor because it seems to me they were using most of the cruise to handle foods services especially at the buffets' were you could not get ur own food but point and be served which slowed down that process. Food at the restaurants did not se to be prepared to order, I had some hot dogs at the Blue Lagoon Grill of which I could have made better at home the Crew on board not all that helpful you had to requesy things twice not to mention some of employees at the pier in new York City were just down right Rude!
now this is my 3rd trip on this Line the second of which I got sick and stuck in my cabin for 2 days, Now to top this whole mess upon getting off we heard and confirned by Travel agent who got us the cruise and just happened to be on board that another 45+ peopke got sick on my cruise, now in my opinion from the time the ship came in at 8 am 10/26 till the time they started boarding us at about 1 pm they could not have possibly completey Sanitized that entire ship, In my judgement they shud have either cancelled the cruise or brought in another ship. I want to know how do I get compensation from this matter or what courses of action is there for me against this Line?.

I don't think you have a case....

I recently took a cruise myself and before boarding the ship, they had us sign waivers protecting them from any liability including norovirus. You most likely signed the same documents. And correct me if I'm wrong but you boarded the ship knowing about the norovirus infection and you were given the chance to stay behind. You made the choice to take that cruise so you might want to think twice about taking legal action.

Norovirus is very contagious.

The Norovirus that was on the ship is extremely contagious and is spread by contact with any other person who has been in contact with the bodily excrements of an infected person. They say hand washing is the best form of defense. This virus can make a person very sick with vomitting and diahrrea. The usual thing that cruise lines do is to isolate the sick person for 48 hours and the members of their cabin for 24 hours.
Norwegian Cruise Lines will offer you a credit for another cruise based upon the number of days you were confined to your cabin by the ship's doctor and the price you paid for your cruise. If you did not go to the ship's doctor, you will not get any reimbursement since they have no official proof you were sick.
All in all, this is not going to make up for the misery you suffered while sick but it is a standard practice.
