Ontario Energy Savings Tricked ,conned and mislead us into a sort of contract that apparently there are penalties to get out from.. Mississuaga Ontario

A man came and gave us a presentation on a company that could save us paying so much money for electricity ,he said. He needed to see a Hydro bill before coming which we had to fax.

He worked for Ontario Energy Savings. We were asked by a letter in the mail to fax or phone inorder to confirm our participation in the programme.. We never replied as we were not sure about it...

We had a small business with 3 accounts.. They now say we are committed to it even though we knowingly did not intend that...They say someone phoned us and that makes the contract binding ...We had 14 staff at the time, and all used to answer the telephone. Several were not honest we found out. Maybe one of them answered a question or talked to them.. We never wanted the service so we deliberately never followed up on all the accounts...(We did experience staff taking too much on themselves on several occasions in our business and pretending to be management...)

We never knew the scheme had started as the Hydro bill looked the same as before.. but we started to notice a considerable increase in the bills.. When questioning Hydro One on this, who were very helpful, they pointed out that we had a "retailer" and that was a reason for the increase...What? A retailer? Until that point we never knew we were with O.E.S's...

I spoke to a Ben Spencer at their office and he said we had been in the scheme since April 2007 on some bills and November 2007 on the other... We didnt even know until August 29 th 2008..

They were very underhand in their manner, never told us about penalties when we were initially spoken to...The idea was supposed to be to lower Hydro Bills but it did sound vague and I always back off situations when there is a hard sell, as I feel the product must not be so good...

People definitely need to be warned about this firm that rips you off.Daylight robbery. Atleast d**k Turpin wore a mask!!
