It is NOT the fault of the people who work here that the car parts that we bought here were mislabelled --they did their best to help us get the right part.
THIS GOES BACK TO CORPORATE IN SPRINGFIELD, MISSOURI WHEN THEY CHOSE TO BUY WHAT IS APPARENTLY CHEAP FOREIGN-MADE PARTS!
I like the car I have now. It is PAID FOR AND NO REPO MAN IS GOING TO COME AFTER IT.
The insurance is cheap too.
After 20 years, it is time to replace the front axles before one breaks while we are on the interstate and get run over by a semi.
My cousin is a retired GOODWRENCH mechanic who has worked on GM products and he offered to replace the axels for me if I would buy them. OK.
So we went to the O'Reilly's Auto Parts store that is walking distance of the house and I bought the first two.
He said he had to have some tools so I bought those too. My nephews all know how to work on cars too as they are in a car club and make their own repairs.
The original axle broke. It was in real bad shape!
The one from O'Reilly did not fit. IT WAS FOR A LIMO, HEAVY-DUTY SUSPENSION!!!!
NOT ONLY THAT THOSE EXPENSIVE TOOLS BROKE TOO --MAYBE THEY WERE MADE IN SOME THIRD WORLD SWEATSHOP FACTORY!
GRINDING WHEELS DID NOT WORK, THE DRILLS WERE MEDIOCRE AND DID NOT WORK AT ALL... HORRIBLE TOOLS...
Another walking trip to O'Reillys with those da**ed axles in the sun.
They found what THE COMPUTER SAID was the right set and the numbers on the box matched the number on the computer which meant that these axles would fit --like h**l!
THE SECOND SET WAS TOO LONG AND DID NOT FIT. DID NOT HAVE WHAT IT NEEDED FOR THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES THAT I HAVE ON MY CAR... THE COMPUTER MESSED UP BY NOT HAVING THE NUMBERS RIGHT IN OO LONG AND HE GETS IS THE FIRST PLACE.
I WANTED TO GIVE IT UP, GO TO NAPA OR THE CADILLAC DEALER AND GET A REBUILT AXLE KIT FOR $150-$175 AND JUST PUT THAT ON BUT HE SAID THAT HE WAS GOING TO GIVE THE O'REILLY STORE ANOTHER CHANCE BECAUSE THEY HAD BEEN SO NICE TO HIM.
WELL, THIS TIME THE C CLIP/SNAP RING ON THE AXLE GETS HUNG UP IN THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE THE DA** AXLE IS TOO LONG ----AGAIN!
IT IS OBVIOUS TO ME THAT THE DATA ENTRY PEOPLE WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO KEY THE RIGHT PARTS INTO THE COMPUTER USING THE RIGHT NUMBERS DO NOT GIVE A d**n AND MAYBE THEY ARE OUTSOURCED FROM A THIRD WORLD COMPANY JUST LIKE THE MECHANIC HAND TOOLS HERE SEEM TO BE, OR AT LEAST THE ONES WE BOUGH..
MY CAR HAS BEEN DOWN FOR SIX DAYS AND EVEN THOUGH I HAVE CASH IT LOOKS LIKE I WILL HAVE TO GO TO A MECHANIC WITH A FULL SERVICE SHOP NOW. I AM GLAD THEY GIVE CASH DISCOUNTS.
I AM STRANDED HERE AND WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE.
AND WE HAVE PAID OUT ABOUT $300 SO FAR.
BEFORE I SUE, I AM GOING TO GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO MAKE IT RIGHT BUT I AM NOT HOLDING MY BREATH.
I HAVE WRITTEN TO THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE IN MISSOURI...THEN, IF NO RESPONSE, THE WAR IS ON!

Most people would have brought the old axles in so they could be compared with the new ones--if not right from the start then surely after the first ones were wrong--this by itself could have saved lots of time and money. Also your friend who was the gm mechanic needed tools--really--and you did not specify which brand of tools you purchased because I know for a fact that they carry different brands. and one final thought for you--parts are labelled wrong and put in wrong boxes all the time and if you think it doesn't happen here in the states then you are an idiot.

I am a recent victim of the by- product parts sold at Oreilly's Auto parts. Yes, I can feel your frustration as well. If you type in Oreilly's Auto Parts you will find my comment. You might as well get ready for war....its been over three months and I have not heard anything yet...Let me make a suggestion. You, I, we, can start a class action suit against this company. I have not set and thought thoroughly in this area yet, but this is a start. Furthermore, there are other similiar complaints with this company as well....stay in touch.

PROBLEM WITH O 'REILLY'S AUTO PARTS ESCALATING
AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

Everyone else if gone to work in their cars leaving me stranded without my car.
I have a relative who has a permanently disabled plaquard and might have a medical emergency and there is no vehicle available to transport here.
Another relative was getting over a bad divorce and uses that car in his job -- but is still close enough the house to be a medical transport if necessary...
He was making money for stand by just by having access to the car.
BECAUSE OF WHAT O'REILLY AUTO PARTS DID TO US, WE HAVE NO CAR HERE FOR THEM!
IF THEY HAD HAD THE RIGHT PARTS IN THE FIRST PLACE, THE ENTIRE JOB WOULD HAVE TAKEN 4-6 HOURS MAX. WE HAD THE WORKERS.
THE CAR HAS BEEN DOWN FOR SIX WHOLE DAYS AND COUNTING!
O'REILLY'S CORPORATE SENT US AN E-MAIL THAT SAID, IN ESSENCE, " YOU ( CENSORED) CAN ( CENSORED) YOURSELVES!"
THE MECHANIC BILL KEEPS ADDING UP TOO. HE CAN'T MOVE UNTIL HE FINDS THE RIGHT AXLES.
SINCE THE CAR BODY LOOKS MORE LIKE AN OLDS 98 THAN THE STANDARD CADILLAC, I HOUGHT MAYBE THAT YEAR OF OLDS AXLES WOULD WORK BUT I AM AFRAID IF I WENT TO O'REILLY'S, THERE WOULD BE WAILING, GNASHING OF TEETH AND MAYBE A FEW TEETH ON THE GROUND ALONG WITH SOME SMART ASSES WHO INSISTED THAT THE COMPUTER INVENTORY WAS INFALLIBLE.
JOBS ARE DIFFICULT TO GET AND WE WONDER HOW MUCH FOREBEARANCE HIS BOSS WILL SHOW BEFORE HE GETS THE BOOT AND THEN HOW WILL HE BE ABLE TO GET THE CAR OUT?
ONE COMPUTER AND A LOT OF OTHER FOLKS HERE NEEDING TO USE IT.

THE COST OF THE O'REILLY'S AUTO PARTS SCREW UP IS RISING....

The car repair places is about a mile or two from my house. The wrecker fee was supposed to have been $65 but ended up being more because of the front wheel drive factor and the right front wheel could not be put back on it for transport because of the jammed axle!
So THAT ended up being $95.
And my entire bunch of relatives had to help.
LOADING UP A THREE-WHEELED CAR ON A FLATBED WRECKER IS NO FUN! HAD TO USE HYDRAULIC JACKS
Next door neighbor refuses to buy parts from O'Reilly's as he has major problems with their alleged lack of quality and thinks they might be unsafe. He is one of those conspiracy theory kind of guys and believes "the Government" wants to get rid of as many larger vehicles as possible and the people who drive them because of Al Gore and the Global Warming (Big Lie) nuts!.So if there are no parts, them people will be forced into clown cars that cost more than a vintage Rolls.
It all sounded interesting but it seems more like simple greed to me.
As soon as the mechanic gets the axle out, my relative says he is going to take it back and get my money back.
I e-mailed O'Reilly corporate yesterday evening and told them about the problem. I included the phone number and the receipt numbers from axles one, two and three and hoped we could come to a resolution because I HAVE BEEN RIPPED OFF THE USE OF MY CAR FOR A WHOLE WEEK FOR A JOB THAT SHOULD HAVE TAKEN A FEW HOURS AT THE MOST BECAUSE OF THEIR LOUSY PARTS AND COMPUTERIZED INVENTORY SYSTEM THAT WILL NOT GIVE YOU AN ACCURATE READING OF WHAT PARTS FIT WHAT VEHICLES.
The mechanic thinks that he might be able to repair it for $300 -- IF he can find the PARTS!
I have a great suggestion where O'Reilly's Corporate can put their cheap Third World vehicle parts but it won't be on any of my vehicles.
