Pep Boys Automotive ripoff abused & mistreated InverGrove Heights Minnesota

So this week I went and bought tires at Pep Boys auto. Going in for one, I came out with three.

I was told that all three of them were too bald to keep on car. I believed it and bought them. Fine. Less than 24 hours later my brakes went out. Since my rear brakes hadn't been done in the past two years, and I was "comfortable" with the service I had gotten when I bought the tires, I returned to Pep Boys.

The estimate I had been given by phone was less expensive than other local merchants too. Well, of course the original estimate was not the problem. The problem ended up costing me over twice the amount that the estimate did. Fine. Do it. Not a problem so far, right? Well, today I went to pick up the van. Prior to going I got a cashiers check for the amount of service made out to Pep Boys. Who likes carrying $374.02 worth of cash around?

I went to the cashier, he was a polite guy, but didn't know how to enter a cashier's check into the computer. So, he calls the manager. The manager very abruptly tells him and me that they do NOT accept cashiers checks or money orders. Huh? I was surprised.

I told him, "It is just like cash". Abruptly again, he tells me "We do not accept this form of payment, we accept personal checks, cash, and credit cards". I said "Well, this is a problem seeing that my ride just left." To which he proclaimed "I don't know why you would think it would be our problem that you think you can pay with a form of payment that we don't accept" (very rudely, may I add).

Well, you can only imagine what this fiery redhead thought about that, and said to the so called manager, who's name by the way is Steve Thompson. Yes, I used an explicitive starting with A and ending with E. I was kicked off the property, and had the police called on me. By a man three times my weight, and a "manager" at that.

Nice customer service skills huh! Luckily, my ride, had a cell phone, turned back, picked me up, and paid my bill with his personal check!!! To which they did accept! Another comment that was made to me by this gentlemen (I use the term loosely) when I again reiterated that I didn't understand how they did not accept a cashiers check which is basically a form of cash was "We don't accept blood for payment or first born children either" and when the police officer asked him if he had a problem with waiting on the side walk when my friend was in paying by personal check his comment was "Well, as long as she keeps her yap shut." You can bet I got a smile from the two police officers that showed up for this one.

Had I known previously upon dropping my car off last night of the reputation (see site below) that this national chain had. I would never had taken my car there to begin with. After today's rudeness and HUGE lack of customer service on the part of this manager. I will never be using this company again!!! To bad for them as my car needs more work :)
