Protect Cell Protect Cell AKA Digital Leash The worst money / experience I have ever spent / had in my life. Novi Michigan

I purchased this insurance in October of 2013. I was told that it would replace my device at no cost for any reason and it would buy back my phone at the end of my contract so that upgrading would be cheaper. I cannot remember the exact dollar amount that it cost me but it was upwards of $300 divided into 3 payments within 2 months. Not cheap. My friend was the one selling me the insurance and I am positive that she too was misled and should have done her research before selling the product, but ProtectCell needs to be a little more true to thier word also. And this is what she was told by their rep. She was excited about it even!

My phone got wet and I immediately called to have it replaced. No problem, except the deductible was $125.00. I threw a fit. Didn't matter. Pay it or find a phone elsewhere. I figured at least I would be able to get a credit when I upgrade (for what my phone was worth at the time of purchase I might add) and I was going to pay $100 no matter what. I go to upgrade. First of all, most cell contracts are 2 years. When my contract was up, I tried logging into my ProtectCell account and it wouldn't let me. It cancelled my policy exactly 2 years from the date that I purchased it.

I really let the poor lady have it that time. She literally could not tell me what the benefit of having the plan was. She also told me that top dollar paid for my phone was around $100.  Unless you need multiple new phones over a short period of time, don't buy it. I promise you can pay for a new phone out of pocket and not be any worse off. I have spent well over $400 and I don't have a phone to upgrade to. I hope someone sues the pants off of this company.
