River City Real Estate ripoff slum lords the business that doesnt give a dam I don't understand why the refuse to maintain the building and take their tenants seriously. Richmond Virginia

River City Real Estate's negligence has cost me hundreds in hospital bills. THEY REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE them. Leaving my apt. one evening I stepped on a loose fire escape step that I had previously called them about. The step went without repair and that evening when stepped on, the step moved to a 45-degree angle causing me to fall down seven steel fire escape steps.

They refuse to keep the building in compliance with health code. My slobs for neighbors tend to pile garbage on the stair landing outside there back doors. One person's garbage got so bad that maggots and rats were living in the pile. Before it got bad I steadily complained twice a week. When it got worse I called them every chance I got explaining to them that rats and maggots infested the landing and threatend to call the health dept. Finally three weeks later it has been taken care of, but my next door neighbor is doing the same thing and my complaints are not being acted on.

Maintenance: This is a company that requires every maintenance request in writing. I have done so and on their form I have stated. Please contact me and set up a time to enter because of my dog. They never do maitenanance. Just barges in and becomes in danger of getting dog bit. So therefore I continue to live in a fire hazard for an apartment.

My roomate and I have sent them a letter stating all of these problems and telling them we want out of our lease. It's been a month with no reply. Well at least they have it in writing.

We live in the museum district, a nice historic area. We pay their over priced rent on time every month so we can live close to the VCU campus. I understand that this is an area where they won't have any problems finding another tenant. I also understand that the building is old and maintance problems will occur.

I don't understand why the refuse to maintain the building and take their tenants seriously. Every one in Richmond should know that they are just another Fan slumlord. If you think about renting from them look closer at their buildings. Come around when the realtor isn't with you. Look at the way they maintain it. Ask other tenants if they are happy with them. Don't be fooled. I was.
