I was parked at a parking lot near Chopsticks Expresslate on a Saturday night. There were no clear signs that one could not park in that lot (other than one sign on the wall at one end of the parking lot, and even that did not make it clear whether it was applicable to the entire parking lot or just cars parked at that wall).
When I came back my car got towed and I had to take a cab late in the night to their yard to get my car back.
What miffed me the most was the ridiculously high towing charges - they charged me $235 for the towing my car to their lot!!!
It seemed to me like the restaurant owner and the towing company are just hand in hand to collect towing charges (I do not see why the restaurant needs such a huge parking lot in any case).
Iam just terribly annoyed at the situation, which ruined my Saturday evening.

So, you believe that when a tow operator tells you that you were in the wrong for parking where you did, that it's propaganda? lol...thanks for the laugh! ;)

Whatever....
I have made my point and I will leave people to decide whats fair and whats not.
I am sure people are not fools to accept some propaganda from towing companies that is disguised as "consumer suggestions".

Ok...

Ok, so they didn't post the signs at the entrance, doesn't mean it's all a "scam." Also, just because you were a customer of the restaurant "that day" at some time doesn't mean you can just leave your car there. You are a customer WHILE you are doing business with that restaurant, but only during that time.
As for my "thegrimtower" lol...with all the foolishness of people who think they can park wherever they want, whenever they want...I'll still be looking for people like that to tow away. With the changes in the laws, with all the whiny people who can't accept responsibility for their own stupid actions...I've become bitter and angered over the bleeding heart morons who fail to hold people accountable for their actions.
So...I will be lurking around, legally of course. :)

fyi, I did purchase something at that restaurant that day, and if you had read my post properly you would have noticed I mentioned that there was a sign at the back wall and that was the ONLY sign; NOT at the ENTRANCE as you mentioned.
So "thegrimtower" ..... your argument is simply wrong and invalid.
If they were serious about informing the customers or other people coming to that area, then they would have bothered posting clear signs. But they did not. So it is clearly a scam.

Sounds fair.

First, the parking lot only needs to have a sign at the entrance. No other is needed to satisfy the "posting" requirements.
Second, it doesn't matter that you think the restaurant doesn't need so much parking. YOU don't own the property, they do. Were you a customer of THEIRS? It appears not according to your own statement.
Finally, the towing cost sounds fair to me. One reason the fee was higher than you might think was the fact that you wanted your car back that night, after hours more than likely. Most towing services charge an extra fee for this. It's reasonable if a driver has to meet you in the middle night so you can recover your car that you parked in the wrong place on someone's property.
