well my girlfriend went to go visit her mom and sister at there apartment visitors have to park on the street. well her car got towed. when i first called the tow company they said that the manager called to have it towed cause it had rolled infront of one of there driveways.
they wanted 300 to get it out that same day which from what i hear is way to much (my brother drives tow truck). well the next day when i picked it up the guy at the lot said it was parked without a permit and was blocking a driveway.
when i got home i called the main office to find out how to dispute the tow because i thought it was a scam. they again told me it was parked without a permit.
the car was parked on the street next to the sign thats says visitor parking. and i dont think they own the street to begin with so how can the managers have it towed. both at the lot when i picked it up and on the phone with the office i said i was gona get a lawyer and fight it and they got real short with me like they didnt like the idea so im gona be looking for a lawyer asap.
also they are required to take a photo of the violation but say they dont need to show it to me.

Yes, Oregon tow laws that were effective Jan 1, 2010, do state that you have to take a photo of a vehicle that shows the violation. Common sense and courtesy dictates that they show the photo to you as proof. If they claim that they don't need to show it to you, then you should contact their client (the apartments), and demand to see the photo. If it was parked on a PRIVATE street, then yes, if they own it they can have it towed. However, if it was parked on a PUBLIC street, then by law, unless the police order it towed, they can't touch it and in that case would have possibly committed auto theft. I'd check into it further.
