Sleep Number beds are total garbage.  A queen is made of 2 crappy air mattresses surrounded by strips of foam rubber, topped with a foam topping.  The foam topping ripped after a few months, and that is when I realized I paid $2000 for a pile of crap.  I got NO satisfaction from the company or the local mall store where I purchased it. There is no actual company. There is just a bank of telemarketers and customer service reps on the phone who will send you a box of new crappy foam to replace the ripped crappy foam.  Plus, they want you to mail back the old crappy foam. There is no one in charge, there is no company that is standing behind this product. I can't even find an address to mail a letter of complaint to. I only found Plymouth, MN online.  But it doesn't matter, as this company is a telemarketing/internet scam with no integrity. I purchased it in a mall store, but no one there has any authority and they just refer you to the phone banks, where you continue to get stonewalled and get nowhere.
I am out of all of this money.  I have 8 spinal fusions, am on disability, and thought this mattress would be good for me. But I was wrong.  You could just buy an air mattress for 90 bucks and get the same thing.
I am so angry, I could spit.  Sleep Number is the biggest scam out there, and I wish I could get the word out.  If anyone would like to help me do this, I would greatly appreciate it, and so will all the people out there who are thinking of buying this bag of garbage. Please help!

If you are not being paid to say nice things about Sleep Number, then please explain . . .

AUTHOR: Kim - (United States)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 07, 2018

If you are not connected with Sleep Number Beds and claim to be completely satisfied with your purchase from them, then I'm sure you must have perfectly good explanation as to how you found your way to this website.  More specifically, how it was that you found your way to the pages containing complaints by those, unlike yourself, who were, well let's just not so happy with their purchase.

I'm fairly confident that the people who filed their complaints on this website found their way here for reasons similar to my own.  After feeling that I was getting no where in getting my problem resolved with Sleep Number, I wanted to find out if there were other people that had a negative or similar experience  with this company and if so, what steps did they take or plan to take moving forward and was especially interested to find out if anyone had been successful in getting their problem resolved to their satisfaction.

I often rely on basic common sense to help guide me in situations such as this, so I understand why those who purchased products from this company and were completely satisfied with their purchase would have nothing but nice things to say about them.  Fortunately for you and many of their other satisfied customers that never had any problems with their purchase, you have no idea how lucky you are.  That's because it's not until after you contact them with a "legit" complaint (regardless if you just bought the bed a day ago or 5 years ago) that you are made aware of the "unethical business practices" this company has knowingly chosen to use in their daily operations.

It doesn’t matter what you have called them to complain about, or how good your reason is for wanting to return the bed for a full refund (even if it’s within the 30 to 90 day “FREE” trial period and you followed all of their instructions to the T), you are still going to get ripped off by this company.  That’s because, as it states in the fine print that the base cannot be returned.  Seriously, they will only accept the mattress (usually the lower costing item of a base and mattress set).  But wait. . . . There’s more . . . If that wasn’t enough to get your blood boiling this should do the trick . . . In order to receive a refund for the mattress you have to cover the shipping costs to get it there . . . and what’s even worse . . . there’s almost nothing you can do about it.

Sleep Number is just another one of the countless companies who use the fine print of their contracts to include verbiage that basically frees them from being held responsible or liable anything, under any circumstances at any time.  Knowing full well that the majority of people given a stack of papers and then asked to sign the final page which states that by signing this page that you have agreed to the terms and conditions of this contract.

Therefore, when customers call for whatever reason, assuming that this store will help resolve the problem in order to satisfy their customer.  But that would be so wrong, because it doesn’t matter what the reason is for your complaint, even if you’ve discovered a factory defect and expect them to honor your complaint by resolving the problem free of charge.  Probably not going to happen, because what ever you want them to fix or replace or reimburse you for, they will simply refer you to the “fine print” in your contract which explains why your request is either going to cost you even more money or be denied.  So unless someone is willing to get the ball rolling on  class action law suit and the  case is won, don’t expect to be a satisfied customer of this company.

Anyway, back to my original question . . . If you are not affiliated with Sleep Number, I’m sure we would all be interested to hear your explanation as to why you chose to come to this site to post how wonderful your experience was with this company among those who are rightfully upset about their experience with this company, as most of them now own one of these beds or are still making payments on a bed that they can’t even sleep in and either can’t afford to buy another mattress or end up making payments on both.  I’de be pissed off too.  Who wouldn’t be?  Looking forward to your reply.

Kim

Update About Mattress's

AUTHOR: sean - ()

POSTED: Monday, April 08, 2013

Hello,

I'm sorry you have had trouble with your mattress. Sleep number uses very high quality foams and the air chambers are made up of 24 gauge vulcanized rubber. If you could see in a normal innerspring you would see layers of Dacron and other types of fiber fill that are not high quality nor are they a 20yr foams. If the company is willing to replace it I see no need to complain. If you buy other types of mattress's you will only be replacing them like you have in the past. You must understand what the materials are and how they work before you judge based on your knowledge of building mattress's. why don't you spend 2,000 on another mattress and replace it in 10yrs when the springs wear out.

A good product

I will, of course, be accused of working for the company, but we have had Sleep Number (formerly Select Comfort) beds since the early 90's and are very satisfied with them.

Once many years ago we had a leak at a connection and they replaced all the parts free.  Since then we have not had any problems at all.

If you open up a conventional mattress you just find cheap wood parts, wire and springs.  You just get to see what's inside normally.

I agree that they cost too much but I think ALL mattresses are far too expensive.

We are satisfied customers.

P.S. I don't know where their plant and/or office is either.  Not uncommon in the Internet world unfortunately.  I haven't tried (or needed to) but I expect the people in the stores can supply you with that information.
