Summit Van Lines ripoff deceptive company Fort Lauderdale Florida

We recently decided to make a move from the Boston area to Tampa Florida. A moving company was needed so we put our move up on the internet to get the best quote possible. After reviewing several prices, we decided to use SUMMIT VAN LINES.

We contacted Summit and received a written confirmation (including an additional $10,000 insurance) of $1810.00.
The deal was done.

When the 2 gentlemen arrived at our home (1 hour late and smelling like they hadn't bathed in a week) the packing began. The 2 men told us to "relax" and they would take care of everything. "Don't worry" they kept saying. Approximately 6 hours later, they finished.

Now this is where the nightmare began...First, the additional insurance of 10K was never processed, unbeknown to us.

Second, Summit charged us an additional $800 for packing materials (shrink wrap and boxes).

Third, on the packing list the mover wrote that we packed all items and that their condition was "unknown".

When we arranged for a delivery date of the items, unforseen circumstances on our end made it impossible to be at the house for delivery. When we tried to re-schedule the delivery, the owner "Guy" stated he would not deliver unless he had full payment up front and that it would be an additional $600 for the second trip. We were being held hostage. With no option, we paid the total due.

When the items arrived (3 hours late and in the dark), We were shocked to find out several items were missing and damaged.

We submitted a claim for these items and were told they would re-imburse us for $210. We received .60 per lb on damaged pieces of the items, not the entire weight.

Bottom line...Summit Van Lines are frauds and deceiving and should not be in business. Don't let this happen to you!!!!
