After getting many calls from them through and automated service. I finally spoke to someone today who claims I owe a debt to AT&T for broadband service back in 1993.

First of all this is not any debt I owe and I didn't even own a computer during that time. I got my first one in 1998! My concern is he read off the last 4 digits of my SS.#. and he had my name correct.

The Only company I've ever had broadband with is Verizon and I still have it with them. If they did not have my information I would not give this a second thought since I pay all my bills on time and have excellent credit.Them having my name and SS.digits gives me cause for concern.

Thanks Steve, I wasn't aware of that. I just know the debt is not mine thanks for the advice as well. I will take that step.

And thanks also for the comment from the person getting ribbed about spelling. We all have typo's, I know I do. So don't let it get to you. It's not hard to read what you said one just needs to uses a little brain power. that's not a big deal.

Another hint for Jessica that this is a bogus bill

AUTHOR: Steve [Not A Lawyer] - (U.S.A.)

Jessica,

There was no such thing as residential broadband in 1993. The internet itself was new [to consumers] in 1993, and dial up was the only available service.

Therefore AT&T Broadband did not exist in 1993.

NEVER speak to ANY debt collector on the phone. ALWAYS communicate only in writing, and by certified mail, return reciept requested. And, be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself, and keep a copy for your records. This method is very important as it proves what you sent.

By the means above, send a DEBT VALIDATION request. In this request, clearly deny the debt and DEMAND to see the original signed contract that created the debt, as well as a full account history and itemization of charges.

With this done this way, all collections efforts must cease until the information is provided. And, you have the right to sue them for the frivolous collections activity.

Show me one post, that I ever said anything about a person spelling. You can't.

If your going to put someone down, get you facts correct, but then again your a collector. Why do you need facts.

It pisses you off that anyone, stands up to the great collectors.

Every post you placed on here, you have insulted the original poster or those that post a reply.

Why is that, does it make you feel like your more of a man?

You claim, to be a business man, that you own your own collection agency, but your posts and comments show the real you, that your a frustrate
little man of a collector, that needs to make himself feel important, putting others down.

Yet you have no explanation as to why some leech company is trying to collect for a broadband bill when broadband wasn't really available to the general public, for the most part. At least not affordably.

Some people, J, need to learn to spell. He will accuse us collectors for not knowing how to spell, yet he can't even spell. Truelink is part of Transunion. When you order through their website, or annualcreditreport.com it will show up as Truelink.
