Prior to the fall semester starting, I was informed my financial aid approval would be arriving in time. It wasn't until the semester started(1 week in) that I realized I was not going to receive the aid in a timely manner, so being I didn't have the $4000 to cover the semester, I had no choice but to withdraw. I thought all was complete until I received a letter stating I owed the institution $3584 for the semester. I informed them that I didn't even attend school that semester due to not getting the financial aid I needed. It was then they told me that all tuition is due in full after the 1st day of class. I attempted to cork out a payment plan but informed them I was unable to pay $800 a month to settle this matter and if they were able to meet me halfway. They pretty much said "NO" and within 3 months I was getting calls froim the State Collections Department, threatening to garnish my wages.

As of now, I am unable to get any financial aid to attend any college because I have a financial hold on my transcript with UMUC and I have called numerous times to settle with them, but they are not budging, stating payment in full is due. I don't feel I owe them the entire tuition amount for that semester, considering I never attended due to financial aid issues and all classes were dropped within the first week - as I was waiting to see if my financial aid would come through. UMUC has gotten plenty of money from me at $500 per credit hour as I attended the semester before, I just don't understand why I am being handled this way.
