I recently was forced to switch from the Highmark health plan to the UMP plan due to my wife's employer plan options changing. I needed to visit my local pharmacy to obtain refills on my prescriptions as I am a type 1 diabetic. All was well until the pharmacy tech handed me a bill for the cialis that I take for erectile dysfunction of $667.00. This medication and condition are Common for diabetics....
My wife and I were advised that all services and meds would be covered if we made the switch to the UPMC plan. We could also keep our Dr's. so for me to be without medication my Doctor has described, is a bit unsettling at best. Had I known that UPMC was going to charge me more for Co-pays, and not honor payment for prescriptions written by a Medically licensed professional, I would have looked elsewhere for my healthcare.
