they don't answer phones, and run you way over your hours of service. and don't care what happens to you or your family. I told them about a bad tire on the truck. and my driver manager told me, just go get the load we will fix it later!!! really!!? wow!!!! forgive me everyone, but stay the f*k away from this company!! the don't care about you at all!!! I was supposed to go home on a friday to ga. they had me in Vermont!! they just sent me my last check, or what I thought was a check. it was a bill for 95dollars! lmao!! for what?? I turned in 2125 miles. that should of been a check for 750dollars!!! they kept it!

Do not go to this company! They have financial problems. I am a driver with 8 plus years of driving experience.  They gave me 37 cents, but only gave me 32. They only give you loads that give them money. Not you. The driver managers are dumb as hell!! Everyone is a newbie.  And they pay you like it. I only got checks for 200 or 300 dollars. I had anywhere from 1900 to 2000 miles! My last check was a bill for 95 dollars! Really?? For what? You didn't train me. I already have my cdl. I'm not a newbie! I turned in 2125 miles before I left. Do the math, 37 cent times 2125. That's my check.. please look for another company, don't put your family though this.

USA Truck- Earn Your Stripes?

AUTHOR: Lady Truck - ()

POSTED: Thursday, May 30, 2013

I, too, worked for USA Truck- with a very mixed experience.  There were weeks I had an exceptional paycheck- mostly when I drove for them as a team driver.  There were weeks that, after my deductions, I owed them money.  There were times when I would call and tell them that I could not legally pick up my next load because it would be a violation of my hours of service, and they told me to pick it up anyway and log my illegal drive time as "finding a safe haven to park."  There were times when they wanted me to drive defective equipment and take a chance of getting a violation.  I did leave and go to another company after my second year there.  But drivers, I have to say this:

You are never forced to do illegal things at USA, even though you may feel otherwise by the person screaming at you on the phone. Ultimately, you call the shots.   You have to be in charge of yourself and your truck.  If you are told on the phone to do something illegal, ask the person you are speaking with to send a message to that effect on the qualcomm.  Then reply to the message, saying that you cannot safely or legally comply with the order/request.  Then take the matter up with your fleet manager or the safety department. They can pull up the qualcomm records and see that you have been told to do something illegal.  My fleet manager got fired for this the same day I complained.  You are the captain of your ship- make the right call.  You cannot blame them for your lack of sound judgement.  As for the miles and pay, yes- there are much better companies to drive for, and if you want to make decent money, this may not be the company you want to work for.  However, I did encounter drivers who had been there for many years who were doing well.  I can't explain that one- but then if you read the reports on this site for any large company, you will continuously see the same kinds of complaints.  I have also worked for Schneider National- and there are a lot of the same sorts of complaints here about them as I see with USA.  I have to say my experience with Schneider was excellent.  Sometimes a driver has better luck than another with a large company.  I don't know exactly why that is.  It has been true for me in my career.   I cannot say that I enjoyed my time at USA-  it was stressful and I had to learn how to go through the proper channels to fix problems and make connections and form relationships with the Van Buren staff in order to survive there.  But you don't have to lay down and take it when they try to mistreat you.  In the end, if you comply with their wishes and do things that you know you should not do, it will be YOU that gets in trouble- and it is your record and career that is on the line.  USA has posters all over their terminals that say, "Earn Your Stripes!"  To get ahead with this company, you definitely have to earn them- you will take a beating if you allow them to abuse you.
