I got a credit card from WFNNB through the Express clothing store. From the way they operate, you can tell they are out to get your money. Take my most recent statement as an example. The statement says it was generated on 12/9. But I didn't get an e-mail until 12/14 (and this is AFTER signing up for e-statements, which is supposed to be quicker). The due date is "5 pm on 1/3", which means, to be safe, I should send the payment so that it reaches them at least by the previous business day, which is 12/31. That barely gives me 2 weeks to mail a payment. I have NEVER seen any other credit card company have such ridiculous payment terms. Also, in the past, when I've missed a payment due to the outrageously short turnaround time you're given, they were quick to report that to the credit agencies without contacting me. This is just a rogue company. Search for "WFNNB" on Google and you'll see pages & pages of consumer complaints.

With the new credit card regulations they must deliver the bill at least 21 days before the due date.  You received the statement on the 14th, and the 14th to January 3rd is 21 days.  So they are just within the law.  But even so, you knew you were going to have a payment due and should be at least prepared for it.  You will find that most credit card companies have this same "tight" turnarounds.

As for when they have to receive it.  Again per the laws, as long as they receive it by 5pm on 1/3 it MUST be counted that day.  Now, yes how do you prove they got it at 4:59pm or 5:01pm..short of tracking it you really can't.  So if you really wanted to "test" them send it by a method that is tracked.  Such as USPS Priority mail with Delivery Confirmation, or even FedEx or UPS.  Just be sure that if you send it not by regular mail you send it to the correct address as they will often have a different address to send it to in those cases.

As for paying.  Do they have on-line payments?  If so why not use that.  You obviously have a computer and already get your statements by email.  If you pay on-line that is often imediate credit so as long as you pay it before the cut-off time you have solid proof that you paid because it should generate a transaction "reciept" showing the date, time and a reference number.

Now a company can not report you late to the Credit Reporting Agencies until you are at least 30 days late.  So either you are lying about them posting, you are not being totally truthful about your payment history, or they are violating the FCRA by reporting inaccurate information.

If it is one of the first two that is on you.  If it is the later then you can go after them for FCRA violations and file a suit against them.  But you would need proof that you did make your payments before you were 30 days late and they still reported it anyways.
