Empire came did their estimate and me and my husband agreed to it. Guys showed up and literally took all my furniture out of my house and put it outside when it was freezing . TVS to, my cable box would not work that night till it warmed up. The floor and carpet looked great for a while untiil i started seeing spots show up on my carpet everywhere, and the laminate floors buckle.
Well the carpet was supposed to be stainmaster, no i dont think so, and i had to shampoo them to keeping them looking clean and with no spots, even when you do not walk with shoes someohow you get spots.

Well i called and had someone come out, yea right, she did not take notes, later i found out, nobody was even scheduled to come look at my floor for the repairs to be done to fix the problems, then the fixing took 3 days for the laminate flooring and these guys did a great job but the leader disappeared and never returned.

The boss at the store told me that he wouldl(Matt Idleman) take care of things about the carpet and the flooring and fix everything. Well he was supposed to call me back the next morning and never did. I spoke to someone else and he stated and i quote, "If your carpet looks dirty it is dirty".

I hung up at that point before i got to the cusssing mode. I even made a complaint witht he BBB and that got me nowhere.

They sent an inspector to my house that poured supposed water on my floor and took pictures of my carpet, so what, i could do that. ANd they said it is my fault because i over cleaned my carpet. This carpet has been in here 2 years and looks 7 yrs old. They patched it and now i have a line down the floor and it is in my door way.

It gets better.

When they finally fixed the laminate flooring, i cooked chili for the guys because the one guy wanted to leave and not finish the work, well to say the least it did not get done that night, they were there to 12 midnight, and he complained all night, and when it was all said and done, they ledt screws in my flooring that they were supposed to come back and fix, they are still there, they never fixed it, and where they patched the carpet, now the carpet is coming up at the end by the hard floor.

So all in all, $7000.00 for flooring and the BBB did not help at all. I just came across the webiste and this happened this past christmas. My floors look like crap and i use the best products. I have a dyson vacuum and an oreck steemer. So I am not Ms. Cheap as you can see. They are apparently.

THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU IS A JOKE

AUTHOR: Michael - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, June 26, 2009

I am a 36 year veteran of the floor covering industry. There are a lot of slimy companies in my market place, Dallas Tx, that have as many as 30 complaints on record. These companies all have satisfactory records with the BBB because they answer the initial BBB letter. When I owned my own floor covering business in San Diego some years ago, the local BBB representative attempted to sign me up. When I asked for the tangible benefits of membership, all I got was a vaguely disguised threat that I'd be sorry If I didn't join.

It is unfortunate at times that services rendered by a top notch company sometimes leave something be desired.

However Empire is no different than any other General Contractor, Custom Home builder, Lowes or Home Depot for that matter.

To say that Empire was at fault is technically correct, however as consumers we must be aware that The owner of empire isn't the one installing the carpet in the first place. Sub-contractors are used in the installation of your floors. The leader of the crew is the one you should have been in contact with.

When the guys put your stuff outside you should have made them stop work immediately and directed them to put it someplace else. Your should have asked for the name and number of the crew leader before they started work so that if any issues arose you could have called the people that installed it,, cutting out the middle man.

Also in many cases we as consumers fall victim to our own ignorance. Maybe you did clean to much. Maybe there was a mold spot on the floor that shown through. Maybe the floors in the Laminate areas were warped or there was some sort of chemical or moisture prevented by some other issue that was causing the buckling of the installation.

Point being this: When you have any work being done to your home it is always a good idea to be present during construction. If something looks wrong after installation chances are it is. However this isn't to say that they could have been more responsive to your issues. But this is to say that to write a complaint about this company and not one reader has any idea of the circumstances surrounding the issues with your preexisting floors, or that simply because you did not do your diligence in making sure you belongings were secured properly or that when they ripped up your old floor that the surface was free of any and all things that might cause the product to fault.

Remember, it is ok to ask questions and learn more about what is going on in your home. No consumer should ever "assume" that because a company is large that everything is going to turn out perfect the first time. To let people into your home you have never seen before and not oversee or have someone there that can represent you, assumes too much.

Your experience may have been wroth with struggle but to post an article because you did not take the time to make sure your stuff was put where you wanted it or to inspect the surface area of your floors after deconstruction is a little harsh.

Bottom line be more aware and accountable. You said yourself you were spending $7000. For that kind of money you could bet that I would not miss on stitch of carpet being sown or that I would have double checked to make sure that the tag on the carpet said Stain Master. If someone was moving my stuff around you could bet that my stuff would go where I wanted it to. For $7000 I would not just assume everything was going to happen perfectly let people in my home and not get some names and numbers or a license plate number or business card of the installers. $7000 is a lot of money, it sounds like in this article you wrote that everything happened to you without you being a little more proactive in the beginning stages to ensure your money was money well spent.
