AT&T failed me in every possible way during a fraud dispute. I was billed over $1,300 in data overages from a hotspot device that had been stolen from my car. I filed a police report, named a suspect, and followed every proper procedure. AT&T refused to initiate a fraud case.

Instead, they suspended my line, leaving me with no way to call for help. I was forced to pay $732.33 just to regain access to support. Even after payment, my service remained suspended for hours, and no action was taken to investigate the theft.

I asked for employee ID numbers more than six times and was refused each time. I was told that because I named a suspect, it was now a civil matter and no fraud case would be opened. My fraud complaint was dismissed without any formal review.

I was offered no credit or assistance while AT&T sent other customers promotional offers to restore service at a discount. I was not given the same consideration despite having a police report and stolen equipment. I was told my phone “appears to be on” while I provided screenshots proving it wasn’t.

Their team asked me “when the hotspot was stolen” after I had provided the report number multiple times. They’ve blocked access to fraud support, violated their own terms, and are now trying to make me pay an additional $1,339.87.

I’ve filed formal complaints with the FCC, CFPB, BBB, CPUC, and the California Attorney General. I recommend anyone else facing this kind of treatment do the same.

Do not trust AT&T. They refuse to investigate fraud, lie to customers, and will leave you without service when you need it most.

The BBB Is A DECEPTION!

AUTHOR: Irv - (United States)

POSTED: Sunday, May 25, 2025

You can forget the BBB with all their PHONEY BALONEY. They call themselves " the bureau" to DECEIVE the public. The BBB is NOT part of ANY government or law enforcement entity and has ZERO POWER to force any business to do anything. Theyll) will use your complaint to badger this business into BUYING a PHONEY "A+" rating because the BBB is a PAY-FOR-PLAY SCAM. The other entities are VALID GOVERNMENT ENTITIES but the BBB is nothing more than an acknowledged CON-GAME attempting to DEFRAUD THE PUBLIC into thinking they are something they are NOT!
