BJB Properties took over control of my apartment building in January 2020. In March our laundry machines stopped working. Many residents called about the problem. The property manager at the time Andrew Patch would flat out lie to us about when he had become aware of certain problems. So much so that we all got together and started logging our complaints to assure our accuracy and suspicions.

It took months of several of us reporting it and finally leaving online reviews for them to at least acknowleged the problem but before they could fix it half of our building burned down in a fire. There had been much debris out behind the building in the alley many of the residents had complained about to said property manager and weeks of nothing being done.  They don't know exactly what started the fire but...you guessed it. It started behind the building where the construction debris had sat for weeks if not months. So if it didn't start here that stuff sure served as fuel. We lost 12 units and a neighbor.

Yes one of our beloved neighbors ended up dying from the fire. If BJB didn't start the fire thier negligence was surely a major cause of it. After the fire the real problems began. The units that did survive in those sections of the building went without hallway lighting for weeks, their solve eventually was to string up construction lighting that you had to lift up to walk under as you came and went. Our buzzer entry system was down and it also took out our heat. They tried to tell me it was the vents on my radiatiors and came and replaced all of my perfectly working radiatior vents with diffrent ones, which turned my normaly quite radiators into screaming steam machines. So eventually I went to the hardware store and just purchased new quality vents of my own and put them on and thankfully back to a quiet wistle. Also clearly not my vents since all of my neighbors are having loss of heat also.

Eventually after many residents reached out to the local Alderwoman things started being resloved. But the problems continued. The workers started using our common areas for their personal trash, leaving out half eaten pizzas and half full plastic cups of soda for days until residents put them in the trash. The project manager on the repairs never wears a mask coming and going from the buildings (mid covid pandemic 12.15.20). After much pleading and complaining we did get them to stop smoking ciggarretts under our bedroom windows. It goes on and on. After checking other social media sites and seeing many others talk about BJB's complete disregaurd for thier residents I realized its a much bigger issue than I thought.

No one person, a complete company culture. Today our hallways filled with the smell of smoke and many of us residents who had only a few months ago lived through a fire that took one of us gathered together outside to try to figure out the source. Some of our residents went to the back of the building where the original fire began and there were men working, clearing the debris from the burned part of the building. He tried to tell them about the smell and ask if they knew, eventually there was an uderstanding and our neighbor saw a smoldering pile of bricks. It is still unclear if the workers started the fire intentionally or accidentally. I'm sure this will go on until I leave this building I have lived and loved for so long. My advice to you NEVER BJB PROPERTIES. They simply just do not care.
