I hired Clear Choice Restoration to replace my siding after an insurance claim. My home had two layers of siding, with the original clapboard covered in lead-based paint.

- CCR failed to follow proper lead remediation practices, contaminating my entire yard with hazardous lead paint chips.

- They attempted two cleanups—both failed.

- They then blamed another contractor for the contamination.

- They quit the job without notice and refused to file an insurance claim to cover the cleanup.

They didn’t just fail at their job—they created a permanent, life-threatening hazard and left me to deal with it.

UPDATED: March 28, 2025 – Clear Choice Restoration is Suing to Take My Home

Day 711 (yes, more than 2 years!): I am now in a legal battle with Clear Choice Restoration (CCR). Instead of reimbursing me for the extensive damage they caused, they are attempting to foreclose on my home for non-payment. Imagine hiring a contractor, they contaminate your property with hazardous lead paint, and then they try to take possession of your home rather than fixing their mistakes. I find this behavior absolutely disgusting.

You can verify this case yourself: Second District Court Case #62-CV-24-1760.

It cost me nearly $25,000 to clean up their mistakes and so far they have refused any responsibility for the contamination or remediation costs.

UPDATED: September 22, 2024 – Legal Tactics to Silence Customers

Day 534: Over a year and a half ago, Clear Choice Restoration contaminated my property with lead paint chips. I took them to conciliation court to recover damages. Rather than resolving the issue, they retaliated by suing me and moving the case to circuit court, significantly increasing my legal costs.

In my opinion, CCR weaponizes the legal system to intimidate dissatisfied customers, relying on the fact that most people lack the knowledge or resources to fight back. But as you can see, there is no reason to fear taking them to court or writing a truthful review.

WARNING: No Lead Paint Insurance Coverage

Clear Choice Restoration does not carry insurance for lead-related damages. When I filed a claim for the lead contamination, their insurance company denied coverage. See the attached letter for proof.

Before hiring them, ask yourself: What happens if they contaminate your home? Who will pay for the cleanup?

Lifelong Liability & Child Safety Risks

As I understand it, a homeowner is legally responsible for any lead contamination on their property—forever—regardless of who actually caused it. That means I will always be at risk of a child suffering lead poisoning on my property due to CCR’s negligence.

Lead poisoning is irreversible and especially dangerous for children and pets.

CCR’s reckless contamination dramatically increased my legal liability and put innocent lives at risk.

They refuse to take responsibility for the damage they caused.

If your home has ANY risk of lead-based paint, I strongly urge you to avoid Clear Choice Restoration at all costs.

UPDATED: March 28, 2025 – Clear Choice Restoration Is Suing to Foreclose on My Home

Day 711 (yes, nearly two years!): I am currently in a legal dispute with Clear Choice Restoration (CCR). Rather than reimbursing me for the nearly $25,000 in cleanup costs I incurred after their work, they are suing to foreclose on my home for non-payment.

You can verify this case yourself: Second District Court Case #62-CV-24-1760.

As I understand it, a homeowner is legally responsible for any lead contamination on their property—forever—regardless of who caused it. That means I will always be at risk of a child suffering lead poisoning on my property due to what I allege was improper lead containment.

What’s even more frustrating is that I believe CCR will likely spend more in legal fees trying to avoid responsibility than it would have cost to properly remediate the lead contamination in the first place. Instead of resolving the issue, they have chosen a more expensive and drawn-out legal battle—one that could have been avoided if they had simply taken responsibility.

Before hiring any contractor, ask yourself: What happens if they disturb lead-based paint? Who will pay for the cleanup?

UPDATED: September 22, 2024 – Legal Challenges and Rising Costs

Day 534: More than a year and a half ago, I filed a case in conciliation court after what I believe was lead contamination caused by Clear Choice Restoration’s work. Instead of attempting to resolve the issue, they filed their own lawsuit and moved the case to district court, significantly increasing my legal costs.

In my opinion, CCR uses the legal system aggressively in disputes with customers. I believe this discourages homeowners from pursuing claims against them. However, I want to show that there is no reason to fear taking them to court or writing a truthful review about your experience.

WARNING: No Lead Paint Insurance Coverage

When I filed a claim for lead-related damages, their insurance company denied coverage, stating that their policy does not cover lead contamination. (See attached letter for proof.)

Before hiring them, ask for written confirmation of what their insurance actually covers.

Lifelong Liability & Child Safety Risks

Lead poisoning is irreversible and particularly dangerous to children and pets. Even small amounts of lead dust or paint chips can cause permanent brain damage and developmental issues.

- If lead contamination isn’t properly remediated, a homeowner can be held liable indefinitely—even if they didn’t cause it.
- Future homeowners could also be at risk if contamination is not properly disclosed and cleaned up.
- I believe that CCR’s work increased my legal liability and the potential health risks on my property.

If your home was built before 1978, be extremely cautious when hiring a contractor for exterior work.

What Went Wrong: My Experience with Clear Choice Restoration

I hired Clear Choice Restoration to replace my siding after an insurance claim. My home had two layers of siding, with the original clapboard coated in lead-based paint.

- I allege that CCR failed to follow proper lead remediation practices, which resulted in lead paint chips throughout my yard.
- They attempted two cleanups, but I do not believe either was effective.
- They refused to file an insurance claim to cover the cost of cleanup.
- They stopped work without notice and stated that another contractor caused the lead contamination.

I believe their actions created a serious environmental hazard that I was left to remediate at my own expense.

If your home has ANY risk of lead-based paint, I strongly encourage you to do your research before hiring Clear Choice Restoration.
