Insurance Claim Check Refuse to Release Insurance Funds for Damage to Home Internet

Our home was damaged during hurricane Helene on 9/26/25. Our insurance company send a check to cover a portion of the damages. Our mortage company was listed as a Payee as well as ourselves. We asked them to sign - they refused - said we must use insuranceclaimcheck.com instead. They then asked us to sign the check (for $56,000) and we were instructed to mail it to insuranceclaimcheck.com - assuming they would sign off and return it to us so we could deposit it and begin rebuilding our home. Instead, they deposited into their own interest bearing account and demanded we provide loads of documentation including signed contracts for repairs, W-9s of each contractor working on repairs, license for each contractor, etc.

We explained that we're doing most of the work ourselves since the amount of insurance wouldnt cover the cost of a licensed contractor and they stated they have no process that allows the homeowner to do the repairs - even if the homeowners are engineers with the ability to do the repairs. After 4 months of appeals, no return calls, 28 phone calls and loads of time negotiating for release of the funds they agreed to come inspect once the work was completed. They sent a 3rd party who inspected the work and confirmed 100% had been completed. We were told we'd have a check within 7 days. But there's no check. Now they want receipts showing we paid for those repairs. 6 months later and they are still recieving interest on our funds and holding our insurance payout hostage.

This has been an absolute nightmare. In order to get the funds we are now selling the home in order to pay off the mortgage. If there's no mortgage - the check must be reissued without the mortgage company's name on it and we can avoid dealing with insuranceclaimcheck.com. Or so we thought. Contacted the insurance company and they refuse to reissue the check since insuranceclaimcheck.com already cashed it. So now we're back to square one. We paid for insurance coverage for years. A storm hit. Insurance sent a check and insuranceclaimcheck.com is profiting from our loss. It's criminal.
