I connected with JustAnswer while trying to find advice regarding the wiring of a new thermostat.  The person I was connected with was unable to answer my question and had essentially looked up the user manual for the termostat and reviewed the installation instructions with me.

Which didn't answer my question at all. I had signed up and agreed to an initial price and submitted my credit card. I believe there was an initial grace period where I would be charge a minimal trial fee and would be charge the regular monthy fee of $38, if I didnt cancel in time.

I did miss the cut-off and didn't realize that, until I received my VISA bill. Because of the delay between billing and the receipt of my VISA bill I was charged a second month. OK - I screwed that up. I ended up paying $76 dollars to get zero help. My bad!

But, then I called and cancelled! No problem I was told - your account has been cancelled. Fast forward 4 months, and while scanning my bill I see a charge from JustAnswer. Upon further review I discovered they have continued to bill me.

I called and their response was they had no record of me cancelling - and since they confirm cancellations via text, I can't prove I called before. So, naturally their response is, "I'm sorry, the best we can do is cancel your account now, and refund the most current billing."

The end result is I paid $228.00 dollars to get an idiot who had no clue how to answer, what ended up being a fairly simple question with a simple solution. I get that $76 of the $228 was due to my own neglect, but the $152!  When I realized I had been billed $76 bucks I called immediately to cancel and I was told the same line that I would get $38 back for the most recent bill.

Just stay away from these guys. Once they have your credit card they're going to bill you. Hopefully, they have cancelled this time around, but now I'll retain their text confirming cancellation, plus I recorded the conversation I had this morning - which I can legally do in my State. I just regret not making a recording the first time I cancelled.
