Orangetheory Fitness Unauthorized Charges for Nearly Two Years After In-Person Cancellation Alexandria VA

I am writing to formally report what I believe is a recurring scam by Orangetheory Fitness Kingstowne. Despite canceling my membership in person in October 2023—after a phone call to initiate the process—the gym has continued to charge my account $129/month without my consent. To this day (May 2025), I’ve been charged over $2,500.

What’s more concerning is that there has been zero communication from the gym since my cancellation—no emails, no receipts, no notices—nothing to suggest I was still considered an active member. When I visited the location recently to investigate, the branch manager acknowledged that there has been no activity on my account in nearly two years. Still, I received no apology, no responsibility was taken, and no offer of even a partial refund was made.

After researching further, I discovered that many others have experienced the exact same situation with this location. It appears Orangetheory Kingstowne relies on vague, undocumented cancellation procedures and a lack of digital communication (such as no confirmation emails or receipts) to deliberately continue charging former members without recourse. This is not a simple mistake—it’s a pattern, and it strongly resembles fraudulent behavior.

It’s unacceptable that in 2025 a business can continue these predatory billing practices, exploiting the lack of written proof to get away with systematically charging unsuspecting former customers.

I have attempted to resolve this directly with no results. I am now taking further steps through legal and consumer protection channels.
