A Nightmare on Montgomery Street

I have been  a shareholder at a 200 unit building in  Downtown Jersey City for 12 years. The location is great but the building president Elvia Paraiso and Victoria Tinen the property manager I believe are the worst things to ever happen to the wonderful building.

Victoria Tinen the property manager from Taylor Management  and the president of Montgomery Towers Coop Elvira Paraiso has made being a shareholder in the building a nightmare!

I remember back in September of 2021 Victoria Tinen of Taylor Management screamed at me stating that I am not allowed to paint my own unit after someone informed her that I was doing work in my apartment. I was stunned to hear this and after doing some research I found out that this was not true.

In Sept 2021water damage in my unit was also reported to management.  Victoria Tinen the property manager from Taylor Management blamed it on the unit above, but after their leak was fixed the moisture continued.   The worst is that the board of the building completely ignored me.  Elvia Paraiso the president never responded to any of the emails I sent her about my concerns as she should.  Victoria Tinen then told me that after inspecting my apartment with an inappropriate moisture meter I have no moisture in the walls.  She even sent me an email stating this after emailing her a report from my home inspector where he clearly stated that I have water damage in the bedroom and bathroom walls due to moisture in the walls.  The wall in the bathroom  looks like  Swiss cheese that is all rusted and falling apart but this was completely ignored by management. Elvia Paraiso and Victoria Tinen never responded to these concerns.

On 6/15/22 after having an attorney write a letter to the board of directors of the building they sent over contractors to break the walls in order to inspect the pipes and try to understand what the moisture issue is really about.  I was suppose to get a report from those contractors I thought it would take a week or so but I was completely wrong.  The walls were broken and my apartment was inspected on 6/15/22 but I received the report after requesting it numerous times  around 9/1/2022.   It was about 2 and a half months later.   I probably would still not get this report if I had not called in the Jersey City Inspectors to come to my unit take a look of what was going on.  But before I continue I must rewind a little because theirs is little more to this story that you should know.

On 8/4/22 I wanted to get my own contractors  to break the walls a little more so that I could get my plumber to inspect the pipes.  Unfortunately  this did not sit well with Victoria Tinen who  told the assistant to not to let them in and  told me  that the contractors were scared of the fire alarm and left.   After the contractors notified me of this I called Victoria Tinen to let them in.  She of course told me that I am not allowed like I am some kind of little child.  I finally got my twalls opened up more after going back and forth with Victoria  Tinen to have my own own plumbers to inspect it.  O(n 8/5/22 I receive a letter from the Attorneys of Montgomery Tower Coop.  I just thought that this letter from the attorneys  was ABSURD for a few reasons.   The first is because the lawyers told me that the inspection report that they received  from the contractors indicated that I am responsible for the damage to the walls.  They also gave me 7 days to repair this.  The report also stated that I caused damage to the walls due to incomplete work done. The report even stated that  I even caused all of this moisture by leaving the windows open.

After Victoria Tinen of Taylor Management attempted to not let the contractors in I finally got fed up that I called the Jersey City inspectors to come to inspect my unit.  When they did come they gave the building a violation for my unit as well as additional violations for the lobby and other parts of the building that they thought were not in compliance with city regulations.

As of the writing of this review I finally got a court order  on 4/12/23 from Jersey City stating that the building must fix my walls.  My biggest concern now is that how will they fix the walls without fixing the moisture issue?  I reached out to Paul Santoriello the president of Taylor Management but he told me that he could not comment  on this.  Paul Santoriello the owner of Taylor Management did not sound as if he even wanted to help.   I also tried to get Larry Rada who is Victoria’s Tinen’s supervisor but he was not able to assist me as well.  I did contact Larry Rada numerous times before but he never assisted me with any issue I addressed to him.  That is why this time I contacted Pauil Santoriello but I should have known better.

The wall finally got fixed after almost a year of battling with the board and management company and I still have the moisture issue to deal with.

The staff of the building wanted to help with investigating  the moisture  issue but after speaking with Management they looked like they changed their mind.

This is the worst board and management company that you want to deal with.  Don’t ever live in any property run by Taylor Management!  I truly do have a. Nightmare on
Montgomery Street!

Please see pictures how my apartment used to look like for  almost a year.  A horrific smell with rats coming through the walls and mold all over the place.  This company was OK with this.  Paul Santoriello, Larry Rada, Victoria Tinen and Elvia Paraiso even raised my maintenance fees every month and forced me to live in these conditions by blaming me for everything
