We used 1800 Pack Rat for a long distance move, Chicago to Los Angeles. The rate came with $25k in insurance protection in case of damage to our posessions including natural disaster, crushing, and flooding.
Upon delivery at our new home, I opened the door and found all of the boxes soaking wet. I immediately called my move coordinator, Felix, to notify him of the problem but got his voicemail and left a message. I proceeded to unload our possessions.
Over the next several days, I kept trying to get in contact with our move coordinator (customer service agent) to find out about the damage, making a claim and having the container checked. It took nmore than 30 days for someone to get back to me regarding how to even file a claim.
Most of the property damaged were books and linens, which started to mold and smell after a few days. I kept calling Felix, who then put me in contact with his supervisor, which took another 45 days before I finally called my original sales representative to complain. Then I received a phone call from the supervisor. By this time, the soaked books had turned to a pile of moldy goo and had been discarded.
Here we are 6 months later, they arbitrarily deny my claim. I am stuck with several thousand dollars in losses because of their faulty equipment. I will never use 1800 packrat again, and I will do everything I can to make sure no one else does either.

Regarding the delay in service, I am truly sorry that you experienced this. I would like you to know that we have taken steps to rectify our communications process, so this will not occur again.
We thoroughly investigated your claim when it was filed. Upon receipt, we found your container and conducted a water pressure test. Under this test, there was no signs of leaking inside the container. Despite this we contacted you to try to substantiate the claim with pictures or the items themselves. Since you were unable to provide either of these, we had no choice but to deny the claim. I am very sorry this was the outcome, and I hope you understand that we did everything we could to try to substantiate this claim.
