I was looking at a BMW just before New Year’s. Looked like a great car with some minor dings and such, but it appeared to be a great deal. We agreed to a price and were headed in the right direction, so I thought.

Paul insisted that I put down a deposit in cash. I reluctantly agreed to let Paul drive me to a local Wal Mart to get money orders to pay for the car, since it was Saturday afternoon and all banks were closed. He said that I could get a cash advance on my debit card. When I told him that my debit limit was too low to get the full amount, he asked me to call the bank to up the limit. When I told him that their limit was below the amount needed, he asked me to call them to ask. I declined. He finally agreed to allow me to put down a $500 deposit in cash. We drew up all of the paperwork and I was to return Tuesday with the balance.

I had reviewed the AutoCheck in the dealership, which was clean. Over the weekend, I did a little research on the VIN and found that it had a rebuilt title. On Tuesday, I called to make sure that the car was detailed and ready and to check the title status (all of 1 and 2 Automotive's advertisements showed the title as clean). Paul wasn’t available, so I left a message. He called me back about 10 minutes later with an apologetic tone. He said that because of me they were cancelling their Car Fax subscription (funny because they didn’t use Car Fax) and were switching to AutoCheck, “the industry standard”.

I went to the dealer to cancel the sale, as it had been misrepresented as a clean titled vehicle, which Paul assured me would not be an issue. While I was onsite, he was cordial, but said that I would have to come back the next day (it was after 5 and their accountant was gone) or I could have a check mailed. I opted for a check. When I called back nobody at the dealer had any idea of what I was talking about and, of course, Paul was not available. I talked to Chris, Chelsea, Mary to this point to no avail.

Bottom line here is avoid these people like the plague. Read their BBB profile and other reviews to see the real deal here.
