A few years ago I registered kcbirdwhisperer.com with 1and1.com website hosting services. I was developing a sort of mobile pet grooming service specializing in bird grooming and behavior correction.

My income was erratic and sometimes the money for the monthly website hosting payment was not on my debit card on the exact day that 1and1.com debited it for the monthly payment.

1and1.com never contacted me about the payment being delayed. When the payment was not available their systems immediately shut down my website ruining all the SEO work I had done to make it popular enough to be found on search engines like Google.com so my fledgling business could get off the ground.

I complained many times to their support personnel who never seemed to care one bit that their systems killing my website every other month, shutting it off often ruins your website ranking. 'Ranking' that I had also paid some services to improve.

After about a year of going round and round with 1and1.com and having my SEO ruined so often that I could not keep up any business online I notified 1and1.com that I wanted to move my domain to another hosting company. They were not cooperative and personnel were just arguementative, often.

1and1.com insisted on keeping my domain name eventually when the 90 day period I had to keep paying for it ended. Once expired I tried to negotiate with them later to get the domain name back and move it to another hosting company but they then insisted that I buy it back from them for approx $250.

They ruined my site SEO so I could not keep my business online going. Then when my 90 day possession of it expired offered to sell my own domain name that is the name of my business: KC Bird Whisperer Taming & Grooming Services, back to me for $250.

Hosting companies often do this. They adverise all kinds of pie in the sky services that seem like a person could get online and make profits immediately. Then after people pay for their services and spend many, many hours, weeks and months laboring to make their website visible, often paying for services to promote their domain name, etc, improving ranking and making the domain name more valuable in the process but for a variety of reasons their online biz does not succeed the hosting company keeps the domain name and sells it to the highest bidder while it still has some value, traffic, etc.

Here is an example of the result of this scam:

Look at the page at the following link: http://www.statscrop.com/www/kcbirdwhisperer.com

This site is still after kcbirdwhisperer.com has been offline for about two years promoting it as if it still has traffic and a high SEO ranking. It is not even online if you actually go to kcbirdwhisperer.com and it of course has not traffice or any REAL SEO ranking.
