I "won" a vacation for 5th Avenue Vacations last year. It was a 5day 4 night trip to Freeport, Bahamas. I was very excited and told I had to pay $99/person for two people to cover the taxes we would have to pay for this trip. When I went to book the trip, I again had to pay $99/person for taxes, along with additional taxes for the hotel. I asked if there would be any extra charges and I was assure no, so I went ahead and booked.
Once I paid, I was told the hotel was 20 min from the beach and that for an extra $207/person we could stay at an All-Inclusive resort in the Bahamas. They said it was a nice resort with 4 stars near the shopping attractions. We did the upgrade figuring cabs and food would be more than $414 and so we could be on the beach. Of course, several more charges came up for the cruise ship we took over to cover their gratuities and gas increases. It cost us almost $900 for this trip that I "won". In addition the worst part was that the cruise book was dirty and very low quality along with the Wyndham Resort we stayed at. This was the biggest scam and not worth the money.

We just got back on April 19 from our trip arranged by fifth avenue. It was the vacation of a lifetime. Yes, there are some fees that you have to pay along the way, but for what you get it is well worth it. We traveled aboard the Bahamas Celebration, paid for an upgrade, and wound up with a deluxe suite for $149. I am a former Carnival Cruiser and found this ship much nicer, the staff friendlier, and the whole experience to be more coordinated and well planned for entertainment. We also enjoyed the Wyndham Resort to be just fine. No, it was not the best room ever, but if you are planning to spend that much time in your room, you are missing out on everything else offered. I feel sorry for all the skeptics out there who are missing out on one of the best vacations ever!
