I applied for a loan online. I recieved a call from some Indian named Anthony Williams. He said I'm approved for $3000 as long as I aquired a Green Dot Money Pak card and verified the amount of $110. In doing so he said he would transfer my money into bank account. It never came. Then he says my credit score was too low, so I had to pay another $140 and the funds would be transfered. So I did. Immediately after he said that I now had to purchase a P.P.I. {PERSONAL PAYMENT INSURANCE} in order to secure my funds. The price for this was $197. So I paid it hoping I'd get my loan seeing as how I had to borrow money to get the loan. BEFORE I did any of that I asked to speak to a manager who assured me I wouldn't have to pay any more fee's and that the call was recorded for "quality assurance." {Rick Roul} Little did he know I'm a studio engineer and I RECORDED THE CONVERSATION myself and every lie he told me. I paid the $197 for the P.P.I. and then I recieve a call saying I couldn't the loan until I paid $297 to convert the currency into U.S. dollars. This is when I realized that this had to be a scam. When I inquired about a reefund the HEAD MANAGER {Mike Carter} and he say's there is nothing he can do for me and that in order to get my money I had to pay the $297. If any of this information is applicable in a suit against them I would be happy to assist and release everything I have against this fraudulant company. To anyone reading this please be advised they will make you jump through loops. I don't even think anyone has ever recieved a loan from them. EVER!

An online payday loan gave you no clue it might be a scam.

A phone caller with a foreign accent gave you no clue it might be a scam.

The offer of a loan for $3000 gave you no clue it might be a scam.

Giving him $110 on an untraceable Green Dot card gave you no clue it might be a scam.

The promised money did not appear and that gave you no clue it might be a scam.

Giving him another $140 on an untraceable Green Dot card gave you no clue it might be a scam.

The promised money still did not appear and that gave you no clue it might be a scam.

Giving him yet another $197 on an untraceable Green Dot card gave you no clue it might be a scam.

The promised money did not appear one more time and that gave you no clue it might be a scam.

It was only when they asked for another $297 that you figured out it just might be a scam.

What a genius!

You are right, it is a scam, there never was a loan

You don't seem to quite understand that there is no "company" and that all of these names for the company are fake. The people you spoke with also gave you fake names. If you call the phone number sometime in the future (not recommended) you will see the number is disconnected. There is no loan. There never was going to be a loan.

The name of the scam is called the Advance Fee Loan Scam. You can read all about it at FTC(dot)gov in the consumer scams section of the website. The scammers keep asking you to send money up front until you catch on that it is a scam. If you notice, the scammers asked you to send it through an untraceable method (Green Dot Money Pac), that should have been the huge tip off that this was a scam.

You can file a police report. Having the recordings of the conversation might help chase down the scammers, but really it is unlikely that you will get your money back. Next time someone asks you to pay any sort of fee at all UP FRONT in order to obtain a loan, don't do it.
