I purchased the True Ceramic Pro in August, 2005. The total cost was $174.95 which I paid by monthly credit card payments. My initial payment was $14.99, then 4 payments of $39.99. The last payment I made was $39.95 and paid by check after I received a bill from ABS stating my credit card company declined the last payment. When I checked with my credit card company, there was no payment made for December, 2005, so I sent the last payment. Shortly afterwards, I discovered that the product although advertised as having genuine baked ceramic plates, actually had metal plates with red paint that had chipped off.

I purchased the flat iron for my daughter just beginning high school. Even though it was expensive, I thought it would be worth it to buy a superior product that my 15-year old daughter could use unsupervised. She said it stopped working after several months in December 2005, but she didn't tell me because she thought I would blame her. She told me it was burning her hair then suddenly stopped working.

I notified my credit card company to dispute charges and they gave me instruction on how to do so. ABS has a billing care department 1-866-441-4729 which told me they had received over 1,000 phone calls just like mine, and that my best bet would be to contact the Better Business Burea and join a class action lawsuit in order to get my money back.
