Advantage Tax Resolution - Matt Walsh was hired to represent us to the IRS in an Offer and Compromise, took our money, never submitted our Offer and Compromise and let our case go into collections/lien process. 6/07 Contacted Matt Walsh with our situation of past due taxes in the amount of $15,000, we were told we would be great candidates for an "Offer & Compromise" with the IRS and would be able to settle for 10% of what was owed. This was suppose to take about 6 weeks.I paid the requested $3,200 on 6/29/07 filled out their questionaire and supplied copies of all past due taxes. Everytime we would receive another certified letter from the IRS demanding a payment setup I was told by ATR to fax them copies. July 08 I was told all is fine, otherwise you would hear from us, from the receptionist. August 08, receive a letter from IRS stating our account had gone into collections. IRS stated they had never received an "offer and compromise" therefore a lien was being placed. I call ATR and was told by the receptionist to fax over the letter. I said the IRS must hear from you by 9/5/08. On 9/9 I called the IRS to see if they had heard from ATR and the answer was no. Therefore, I was forced to set up a payment plan with the IRS to prevent a lien being placed. On 9/11/08 I called to say I want a refund of our money for non-performance and was told by the receptionist to fax in the request. Since that day, I have called at 3 times a week leaving messages for the Legal Accounting Dept. for Rebecca and not one phone call has been returned. I have talked to the receptionists more than anyone who was suppose to be representing us.It has been over 45 days and not one return phone call.

**Here is the worst part, if that is possible**
I called again on 10/28/08 to speak with Rebecca in Accounting and was told by Christina the receptionist that a letter was sent out responding to our request for a refund. We never had one returned phone call begging for a response to our refund.

On 10/29/08 received letter from ATR and it was so generic, I do not think this person was familiar with our file. It stated: "they had spent a tremendous amount of time and effort trying to resolve our tax problems since May 21, 2007 "(We did not get our 1st introduction letter from them until June 1, 07 and they did not get their money until 6/29/07- and you can bet they did not start on our paperwork until they had our money.
They continue to state the company:
"Has been in contact with the IRS not less than 18 times on our behalf, which included 3 separate phone to the IRS from staff.

Has been in contact with us no less than 33 times, which included 3 separate call from staff.Has prepared legal documents on our behalf no less than 5 times, which required analysis and review by staff and submitted to the IRS Has performed at least 6 hours of analysis on our case by staff therefore request for refund is denied."

I was completely sick to my stomach reading this, they have the nerve to say they properly represented us and to throw in those ridiculous bullet points. BBB has given them an "F" rating. I am speechless. Not only are we out of $3,200, that we had to save up for, we are now back to dealing with the IRS one on one after having to set up a payment scheldule to prevent a lien going on our property. We would love to partake in a class action lawsuit against this company.

these rarely work

AUTHOR: Cat - (U.S.A.)

Altho I do not know this lawyer, the IRS rarely, if ever accepts these offers in comprimise, so any lawyer that takes your money ...probably IS taking your money!mYou would have been better off applying it to your IRS debt.
