*Consumer Suggestion: Info for Jill, and Rhonda regarding the bogus AFNI Collection
*Consumer Comment: started in January
I received a letter from Afni today regarding a verizon phone number I never owned. It's not even in a state I ever lived. The bill is in my maiden name and was sent to the address where I've lived only as my married name. Who do I call? or where do I write? I've been reading the rip off reports about Afni and would like to know if anyone has had anything resolved.
Thanks! please help!

#2 Consumer Suggestion
Info for Jill, and Rhonda regarding the bogus AFNI Collection

AFNI are debt collectors as well as JUNK DEBT BUYERS. They buy VERY old, usually past SOL debts that are not legally collectable. They usually pay less than 1 penny on the dollar for these "debts".
They are fishing. These old debts come with little or no documentation and they send letters to anyone with a same or similar name, and also they search public records like marriage, etc.
This is very easy to beat, and possibly get paid for your time. You have the right to sue and get paid for your damages from a frivolous collection attempt.
Just send a DEBT VALIDATION request. DO NOT sign this letter! Just print. In this letter, clearly dispute the debt and demand to see the original signed contract that created it as well as a full account history and itemization of charges.
Send this by certified mail, return reciept requested. Be sure to put the certified# on the letter itself and keep a copy for your records. This is very important as it proves exactly what you sent.
Stay off the phone! NEVER speak to ANY debt collector on the phone!

If you have noticed that a lot of the AFNI reports started at the begining of January. I also recieved a letter and posted my report here too. It is strang that all of us recieved a letter dated for the month of January. This is a scam. I wrote my letter and have not heard a word since then. They will try to get anyone who thinks that it is on their credit. They are trying to scare people. I buy it. Dont call them at all. It is a waste of time.
