Agel is a relatively new network marketing opportunity that started in early-mid 2005.I almost joined Agel in late 2005 and am SO glad I stopped and thought about it.
I've seen many people get sucked in by the hype and then later realise that they've wasted several thousand dollars on low quality products and a bad business opportunity.

There are many many problems with Agel that, in consideration of all the current hype about it, someone needs to expose. By the way, I am successful at network marketing (retired at age 31) and am very cautious and wary about all "groundfloor opportunities" as 95% or so shut down within a year or two or three.

Here is a brief expose of just a few flaws in the Agel products and their pay plan.

Problems with Agel's products:

Agel products cost about 10 times more than comparable products. Agel's MIN costs $90 to $110 Australian per month - depending on if you're an Agel rep or a retail customer. (((ROR redacted competitor's name))) costs only $10 Australian per month.

According to the label, Agel's MIN (apparently) contains similar amounts of nutrients to (((ROR redacted competitor's name))). I say "apparently" because as far as I know Agel products are NOT made to the level of pharmaceutical grade ie. Agel does NOT satisfy Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). I gather that Agel products do NOT satisfy the US or British Pharmocopeia guidelines for potency, uniformity and disintegration.

What does this mean? That Agel products are seemingly only food grade quality and as such there's really no guarantee that what Agel says is in the product actually is nor that they dissolve in your digestive system nor that they are absorbed.

So why pay 9 to 11 times the price to get Agel product (and risk a taste you don't like) when for far less you could get (((ROR redacted competitor's name)))? As you may know (((ROR redacted competitor's name))) tablets are tiny and easy to swallow. If you can swallow half a raisin you can swallow (((ROR redacted competitor's name))). Why are they so small? Because it's a very LOW amount of nutrition. Just enough to help you prevent scurvy and rickets and pellagra.

As for myself, I wouldn't even use (((ROR redacted competitor's name))) because I want to lower my risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer, osteoporosis, eye problems and so on. To help one do that medical studies show we need 10 to 50 times the daily amounts of nutrients we get in (((ROR redacted competitor's name))) or Agel's MIN.

Likewise, Agel's other products (FIT, EXO, UMI) contain small amounts of active ingredients - below the thresholds of real benefit.

For over a year Agel products have contained Neotame: "A whopping 78% of all complaints to the Food and Drug Administration, according to the Aspartame Consumer Safety Network (ACSN), concern adverse reactions to Aspartame" and Neotame, a spin-off from Aspartame, is considered to be as dangerous if not moreso. (source: (((ROR redacted link))) The Agel products are heavily preserved with Sodium Benzoate - also known under number 211.

This chemical has been associated with adverse effects ranging from gastric problems, skin and eye irritation, liver, kidney and neurotoxic effects and regarded as a possible teratogen [a teratogen is a substance which can cause birth defects]. In addition it is known to react with vitamin C (either naturally occurring or added) to produce BENZENE an ingredient present in
petrol and a known carcinogen.

For further details of the dangerous ingredients in Agel products see the discussions at: (((ROR redacted link)))

Problems with Agel's pay plan:

Despite the hype, Agel's pay plan is relatively poor when you sit down with pen and paper and analyse what you can make. You can make commissions that are twice as high with other companies than you can with Agel.

A comparison:

For example, you can make 16% with Agel for the fast-start bonus. The customer pays $1230 US for the Executive Pack and you get just $200 US. However, by comparison, you can make 35% commissions with another company, Usana.

Likewise, you can make up to 20% commissions from your customer and downline product volume with Usana compared to just 10% with Agel. Similarly, the bonuses with numerous companies are more generous and far easier to qualify for than with Agel. With those other companies you get the bonus income based on YOUR results.

Whereas with Agel your bonus income depends on OTHERS in your downline being MLM champions too. That really sucks. You can only qualify for Agel's Silver Director (and get access to a small bonus income: "car and expense allowances", a trip to their leadership conference and a bit more from their "matching" bonus) if you have personally sponsored 2 MLM champions that have built a big downline too (inside your downline). To find 1 MLM champion is a triumph. But you have to sponsor 2 of them yourself (early on so they're high up in your downline) in order to get access to the small Agel bonus income.

By my calculations to earn around $2000 per month from Agel autoships you'd need about 450 people in your downline with Agel. That would be 450 or so people on a 100 point autoship. By way of comparison you could be earning $2000 US per month (just from autoships) with only 150 to 200 people in a (((ROR redacted competitor's name))) downline. Of course, you'd be earning more because of the new startups joining each month.

Agel's 100 point autoship costs $120 US.
(((ROR redacted competitor's name)))100 point autoship costs about $110 US.

Proportionately more money is going in to Agel but seemingly less is coming out and going to the average distributor.

This article presents just a few of the many major problems inherent to Agel. It might look shiny and glamorous on the surface but scratch it and there's nothing below to substantiate the incredible hype.

In forming this opinion about Agel, I have read through several Agel websites many times, seen their videos several times, been to a live presentation, tuned in to several web-casts, spoken with numerous Agel distributors, read their magazine twice and their book called Ageless Nutrition twice. I have spent well over 30 hours looking over Agel very closely.

If you're looking for a viable home business I recommend the e-Book (((ROR redacted link)))

Know Your Facts

AUTHOR: B - (U.S.A.)

First of all, I'd like to let you know that 4 years after Agel's begin, it's still going strong!

Second of all, if you'd like to purchase vitamins and minerals elsewhere, go ahead. They probably are cheaper. The reason why they are expensive at Agel is because it's an MLM. Where else is the money they pay out each month supposed to come from? It's the same way in any other great network marketing business.

Agel's compensation plan is the best out there on the market right now. I challenge you to show me a better one. The Leverage Matching Bonus that Agel has is unbeatable! Sure, you can live off of Enrollment Bonuses anywhere else but up to 50% on your first generations team volume and up to 7% on all other generations up to the 7th? That's what I call residual income! It seems to work for a lot of Agel Team Members, sorry it wouldn't work out for you. Oh, and p.s. the 20% you get off of your team's volume at Usana is also dependent on your downline being rockstars and not just you. Agel is interested in richly rewarding those who work hard. We have several distributors who are making over $75,000 a month! I also see, however, many new distributors earn quite a bit of money in their first months.

As for the products, don't knock 'em til you've tried 'em. I take the Agel products every day and know that they help me. It's true that they're not pharmaceutical grade, because if they were, they would be considered medicine. Then they wouldn't be nutritional supplements anymore.

As for the sweetener in the Agel products, they no longer contain Neotame. They now use the natural sweetener, fructose. And to say that the products are heavily preserved with sodium benzoate would be a little exaggeration. If you really want to know, each packet contains 3mg of Sodium Benzoate, which is .01411% of the content of that packet. Just enough to preserve it, but not enough to cause any problems. This is also the same preservative used in soda pop, but in much smaller quantities. As for the Vitamin C-Benzene scare, Agel has had MIN tested for this and no traces of Benzene have been found. No other products contain Vitamin C.

If you're wondering why Randy Gage came out of retirement because of what he saw in the Agel opportunity, go to YouTube and check it out.

Get Real

AUTHOR: Frank - (Malaysia)

POSTED: Tuesday, August 26, 2008

It obvious that you are trying to promote the MLM company that you are in. It's all very well to announce that you have gone through all the literatures to show you have done your research. However, all you have shown is that you have examined the information with the pure intention to rip it apart. Unfortunately, the only person who will loose out is you, because you did not examine the information rationally. (Otherwise you would have jumped ship just like many of the rest who did examine the information rationally, and dispite their success in their company)
Please don't blame anyone else when your Agel friends realised their dreams while you are still trying to bash the rest of the MLM company other than your own... and soon you will end up bashing the whole industry when you also fail at your present company. I really hope not... give yourself another chance and look at the opportunity rationally and take the bold step to be a leader.

Why blame the company when all you have to do is save receipts!

AUTHOR: Justin - (Canada)

POSTED: Friday, April 06, 2007

I have not had the get rich quick success with Agel that many have had thus far. However, I know exactly why! I am at fault, not the business. One thing that must be remembered about this business, and other network marketing businesses, is the only real contributing factor to your success with this type of business is you! Your efforts, determination, devotion, and input are what defines your bottom line. In my case, I was pre-occupied with starting a new career and moving and didnt allocate the proper time and attention to Agel.
If you dont have a strong and supportive upline that doesnt mean you can be successful. Besides, if your organized enough to keep your receipts and know your tax benefits when it comes to a small business, then you can almost entirely absorb your losses, if any, through your taxes legitimately. Im not suggesting embelishment, but rather diligent organization and research. I also suggest making an appointment with a Chartered accountant, and dont worry if its expensive...its a business expense! Keep your receipt(s)!

The Agel products changed my life!

AUTHOR: Brenna - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, February 18, 2007

I've been a travel nurse for the past 5 years and so the concept of gel-suspension technology was easy to understand! It's an incredible way to instantly assimilate all the nutrients my body needs, and they taste GREAT!

My three-year-old son used to get constant ear infections related to his meteor-like tonsils, and the doctor told us that we needed to consider putting tubes in his ears. Instead of putting him under a possibly dangerous medical procedure, we started him on the UMI everyday along with his EXO and MIN. He hasn't had an ear infection in almost a year, and hasn't even been sick! The kicker: he's around sick children all the time because he's in preschool!

Regarding the lab results that the original post stated, none of the ingredients are a brand new invention, but the delivery system is! It seems as though the person that posted this complaint is a distributor for another company, and is taking part in a smear campaign.

I am a supporter for the entire Network Marketing Industry, and I would never bash a company out of fear or jealousy, but I have to say that I have experienced great success with my income and so have many of the distributors that I sponsored.

The great thing about the Agel compensation plan is that you can sponsor as many people as you want, but you only have two legs to put them in. So, I put my parents at the top of my legs along with many of my family members, and then everybody else went underneath. I am truly in business for myself, not by myself.

Finally, it's a shame when people who are uneducated about what they are talking about, make false claims. Also, it's immoral for them to spread falsehoods as a form of mudslinging to get people to look at their company.

The results speak for themselves. There's a reason why the Attorney General spoke at the Agel World Conference in support of and congratulating Agel Enterprises!

Lab Tests ?

AUTHOR: Steve - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 25, 2006

Hello,
I had been with Agel and well......made no money. Went to all of the HooRAHRAH meetings. Been on all of the conference calls.

There was one question I asked my upline and corporate that they couldn't or wouldn't answer. I did get a canned response from one of my upline members.

I asked them what is the ORAC value of one of their products. I then asked them if it was tested in a lab.

No repsonse.

If anyone knows about nutrition, they should know about ORAC and S-ORAC.

Basically I received a cold shoulder from corporate and my upline. ***In fact my one upline leader dropped out as well. His reasoning for dropping out? Other people stealing other people from other downlines.

Much success to all!
