I went to down town Ft. Lauderdale Florida to look at a car for sale. The owner of the car asked to meet at Publix Supermarkets on 6th and Andrews . After an hour drive, I reached the Publix and saw the vehicle I came to check out, parked in a crowded line of cars at the side entrance of the grocery store. I parked in a near empty parking lot directly across the street from the Publix and the sellers vehicle (maybe 80ft away).

I walked across the street and started to inspect my potential new vehicle. I was out of my car for all of 90 seconds and I saw a tow truck backing up to my car. In a panic I ran across the street (injuring my knee) to address the tow truck driver who did not yet have my car hooked up. As I pleaded with him, he started the process of lifting my car off the ground. He insists someone called him to report my "illegal parking".

A second tow company employee shows up in a pick up truck. He and BSO deputy, who made his way over from Publix, exchange ill intended words. The driver explained to me that it would cost me $50 to put my car down. I only had $44 in small bills and the driver could not break a hundred. So there I sat on the trunk of my car refusing to move, certain that if I got down, even to get change to pay him, my car would be taken.

I was on to their SCAM! Thankfully, a by stander gave me the 6 more bucks I needed. I gave the driver his un-earned blood money. I spent all of the 15 minutes it took him to fill out my reciept, telling the two tow boys exactly what I felt about their business practice, ethics, morals, and mothers. Thank God I saw the tow truck. If I had not, I'm sure not only my car but all of the valuables in my car, including my firearm and a very large sum of cash, would still be in the hands of those dirtbags. After some investigation, I was told noone called the tow company. They own the lot!!! These people are preditors who hide and wait to feed on on unsuspecting citizens. They need to be stopped!

the ACT drivers are on to new scams

AUTHOR: frankD - (United States of America)

yes kayaman the ALL COUNTY TOWING drivers are on to new scams - the spotter works in cahoots with the tow truck driver - they hook-up vehicles withOUT towing them to the yard - the tow truck driver collects whatever he can, say $50, from the vehicle owner, and splits it with the spotter OR ELSE the spotter warns the vehicle owner he will be towed UNLESS the vehicle owner pays the spotter cash, say $20, which is split with the tow truck driver

basically the ALL COUNTY TOWING employEEs have, amongst themselves, figured out a way to scam the parking public withOUT going through their own employER

and yes most ALL COUNTY tow truck drivers and most if not all spotters are drinking and drugging types who need the cash flow withOUT public scrutiny - so they are more suceptible to bribery and under-the-table dealings

this also happens at condo and homeowner associations - my daughter for instance bribed a spotter $50 for a month of tow-free parking in an unauthorized spot and it worked the same way as in the parking lot downtown near the courthouse

the scammers are scamming their own

......the real truth is ALL COUNTY TOWING does indeed practice preditory towing and has and continues to do so whenever and wherever it gets away with it IMHO

the city of sunrise clamped down on towing companies BECAUSE of ALL COUNTY TOWING, as did someone who got that downtown courthouse lot chained off, as one of ALL COUNTY TOWINGs favorite scam locations is now unavailable for such scam operations

it doesn't surprise me that the responses, here and elsewhere, to the people who were scammed are similar, in the way the VICTIM  should be the poor lot owner, when in fact the poor lot owner is in on the scam and assists in perpetrating it and profiting from it

the cars illegally parked which were RANSACKED and looted and damaged, if you follow the negative postings, well those vehicle owners deserved their fate,  as if the punishment should fit the horrible crime, as no previously drug-abusing currently paroled tow truck driver  is so unscrupulous as to pawn the vehicle owners possessions (how those certain possesions were found at local pawn shops is a mystery) - plus if you don't have exact money at the impound lot, ALL COUNTY TOWING keeps the difference

well the lot owner of the appelbees at the sawgrass mall didn't want the hundreds of customer cars towed by ALL COUNTY TOWING, and applebees reimbursed ALL those people involved and FIRED ALL COUNTY TOWING as a vendor - YET you still see where all those very bad people that illegally parked were "wrong" and ALL COUNTY TOWING was right

okay so ALL COUNTY TOWING was so right it was 1) terminated by applebees 2)considered persona non grata by over a thousand newspaper poll respondents and 3) the cause the city of sunrise mayor to implore the county investigator and state attorney to get involved as fraud by ALL COUNTY TOWING seems a possibility

when your in a hole, stop digging - right ?  well ALL COUNTY TOWING is still operating near the downtown courthouse from a reduced sized lot and appears to be towing many FEWER cars

the scam is dying out

So, you parked your vehicle and somebody elses private lot, ok.
Im not sure why you would meet at a Publix and park across the street. Why did the guy not meet you in the lot where you parked?

Ok, went acorss the street, therefore abandoning your car in someobdy elses lot.
Not sure what injuring your knee has to do with them towing your car, unless you are playing the sympatch card??

Somebody must call to have the vehicle towed, otherwise its auto theft. Illegal parking is the general term for what you did.

You only had $44 dollars. The bill was $50. This is no different than being in line at Publix or Wal-Mart and being short. Someobdy has to pay. They do not carry cash for obvious reasons.

Not sure what scam you are referring to. YOU left your vehicle in a PRIVATE LOT.

I spent all of the 15 minutes it took him to fill out my reciept, telling the two tow boys exactly what I felt about their business practice, ethics, morals, and mothers. ****I doubt it took 15 minutes to fill out the paper, and im sure theres nothing you said that they have not heard before**

You claim they would have stolen your things(what you claim to be a large sum of cas and a firearm, yet you left your car in downtown Fort Lauderdale where break ins occur every few minutes.

As far as no one calling the towing company, if they did not they would be arrested for auto theft. What investigation led you the conclusion that the lot is owned by the towing company exactly? Look it up online or go to the city records... the lot isn't owned by the towing company.

I know... real preditors. They told told you to park there too right???
