Animal Friends of the Valleys (AFV) should stop using All Creatures Animal Hospital in Murrieta for spaying and neutering services. I recently adopted an AFV cat and had a bad experience with this facility and its doctor Nisar Ahmed.
I had a previous bad experience with Dr. Ahmed about two years ago regarding a pet and vowed to never use his services again because I felt he overcharged me and wanted to perform unnecessary work.
I was dismayed when shelter staff told me that Dr. Ahmed would be neutering my new cat, but felt this decision was out of my hands due to shelter policy. My problems with Dr. Ahmed began when I took my cat back to the hospital for his one-week surgery follow-up appointment.
During the exam I mentioned my cat had diarrhea, which I thought was caused by the antibiotics he was taking. Dr. Ahmed said that diarrhea isn't caused by antibiotics. I later learned on the Internet that this isn't true. He said the cat probably had worms and fleas and should be tested for them. He also advised a feline leukemia test. I agreed to the tests though I don't understand why Dr. Ahmed didn't advise the leukemia test before the cat was neutered. If I'd known he had this fatal disease, I wouldn't have put him through the surgery.
The tests showed that the cat had fleas, worms and possibly feline leukemia. Dr. Ahmed advised deworming, flea dipping, running a second leukemia blood test and other blood work showing the status of the cat's vital organs. The cost was $485. I said I couldn't afford all the services and requested that Dr. Ahmed just do the deworming, flea dipping and second leukemia test. That cost was $311. I assumed that if the cat had leukemia, he would probably have to be put down so I didn't think the other blood testing on his vital organs mattered. I pressed Dr. Ahmed for more information on feline leukemia, but he evaded my questions and told me to wait for the next test results. It irked me that he wouldn't answer my questions, especially since I was upset over the possibility that my cat was seriously ill.
As I drove home, I had nagging thoughts about Dr. Ahmed and wondered if he was lying to perform unnecessary work. When I got home I called AFV to complain about Dr. Ahmed and asked for the name of another veterinarian for a second opinion. I also called the hospital and told them not to perform any work on my cat because I was coming back to pick him up. AFV gave me the number of the Clinton Keith Veterinary Hospital in Wildomar and I made an appointment for 2 p.m. that day. I also asked the hospital's receptionist if she had heard of complaints against Dr. Ahmed from other pet owners and she replied yes.
I arrived back at Dr. Ahmed's hospital about 1:10 p.m. and asked for my cat, plus the two tests samples that they had run on him. I was put in an exam room and told that Dr. Ahmed wanted to talk to me. When he came in he asked why I was unhappy. I explained that I questioned the validity of his testing and was taking my cat and his test samples to another veterinarian for a second opinion. For about 30 minutes, he stalled me by asking why I didn't trust him, etc. I kept repeating that I just wanted my cat and the test results so I wouldn't be late for my other veterinary appointment. I had already prepaid Dr. Ahmed so he should have given me my cat when I requested that.
Eventually, I lost control and started crying because I couldn't get him to bring my cat to me and felt he was harassing me. I was really frustrated! They finally brought my cat in, but couldn't find the test samples. My cat had been dewormed and flea dipped despite my calling to stop the procedures. Dr. Ahmed also bought in his veterinary technician to tell me what a great veterinary clinic they run, etc. I think he wanted to defuse the situation with another person and calm me down.
It was nearly 2 p.m. and I didn't have time to make it to the other veterinarian so I I wearily told Dr. Ahmed to just do the second blood test on my cat. If he had leukemia, Dr. Ahmed said he would return him to AFV to be put down. I told Dr. Ahmed that I have two other cats and don't want to further expose them to leukemia though they've been vaccinated for it. He said for me to bring my other cats in and he would deworm and flea dip them at no charge since they probably needed the services after exposure to the new cat.
When I got home, I thoroughly combed my other cats and found no fleas. I did, however, find five complaints against Dr. Ahmed at www.ripoffreport.com. Some of the complaints included overcharging and needless services being performed.
I've urged AFV to sever all ties with Dr. Ahmed for the sake of animals and their owners. There must be other veterinarians in Temecula Valley who can perform low cost spaying and neutering services and do it honestly.
I also filed a report against Dr. Ahmed with the California Department of Consumer Affairs and I hope other pet owners will heed my warning about his questionable practices.
I met another person who had a bad experience with Dr. Ahmed, too. She said he wanted to remove her dog's infected eye for about $2,000. She objected and insisted on Dr. Ahmed giving her dog antibotics instead. The antibotics healed her dog's eye. Dr. Ahmed is a ruthless, lying butcher out to make money off innocent animals and needs to have his license yanked!!!

UNFOUNDED CLAIMS....

To Whom It May Concern,
The doctors and the staff at All Creatures Animal Hospital have now and have always had one common goal in mind. That goal is to provide the absolute best possible care for each and every patient. We also work extremely hard to assure that every client is completely satisfied with the services they receive.
With every patient and client we see we are faced with a challenge. That challenge is to clearly present and outline our recommendations and findings, and to make sure that every patient receives the highest level of care we can provide. Every client is presented with a written estimate and it must be signed before any services are rendered. We understand that in these tough economic times many people have financial concerns. This will not deter us from recommending services, preventive care, and the diagnostics needed to properly treat and diagnose our patients. We will not compromise our standards. We do however view each case separately and will adjust our estimates as much as possible to fit each individual client's/patient's needs and budget.
We also have an open door policy. This means that we allow our clients and prospective clients to tour our hospital at any time; no appointment is needed, like so many of our competitors require. We take great pride in having one of the cleanliest and best maintained hospitals in the valley. We have nothing to hide and encourage everyone to visit our facility and see what we have to offer.
Everyone here at All Creatures Animal Hospital treats the patients as one of their own pets. The care and affection they receive is incomparable. We will continue to recommend the best treatment for every patient we have the pleasure of seeing and also educate our clients, which will allow them to make treatment and preventive care decisions to help their pet live a long and healthy life. The doctors and staff here at ALL Creatures Animal Hospital are 100% committed to promoting the human-animal bond.
Sincerely,
All Creatures Animal Hospital Management

As an EX-customer and EX-Employee I have inside information as to this Doctors treatment of both animals and humans. Both have left me sadly disappointed and dedicated to warning people about this facility and employees. The employees are harassed and subliminally threatened regularly, so any statement that they make is for the sole purpose of continuing to pay their rent. There are no long term employees, but many ex-employees as the doctor has a revolving door philosophy concerning the value the individuals. he prefers not to fire them, but drive them away using humiliation, abusive confrontation and aggresive fault finding.
Dr Ahmed does not have any pets of his own. His practice exists for the single purpose - profit - with the same level of indifference toward the well being of animals that puppy mills exhibit.
The person who wrote this complaint is just one who dared to speak out - the general scenario described has been told many times, most people don't take the time to vocalize their concern. I admire and believe her - I would also heed her warnings, he will never touch an animal in my care again.

All Creatures Animal Hospital provides the most credible animal care

This is a complaint that is obviously stemmed from the bill. However, it is important to realize that the costumer is really limiting the doctor's ability to practice medicine by deciding what the doctor should perform on the pet and what he shouldn't. And by "researching" the internet and reaching conclusions to compare with a doctor who went through eight years of med school. Obviously, this person does not care about their pet enough because he or she "thought the cat had leukemia and would die anyways," which really is unfortunate for any pet who has live under this person's care. Obviously the veterinarian has a responsibility and liability to treat any animal to the best of their ability--unfortunantly, there are few people who get irrate because their medical bill is high, and they don't see why since it it's all "just for a pet." Well, news flash, doctors who go through veterinary medicine are not taught to limit their medical knowledge while trying to help a pet because the owner does not want to pay for the medical costs. Medicine is not cheap, everyone with common sense knows that. I find Dr. Ahmed the most kind hearted compassionate doctor for my pets, and it's unfortunate that rude people who do not care for their animals are trying to say these things. Dr. Ahmed by all means puts the health of the animal before anything, and I'm not rich, and he always has an affordable estimate for me. He is by NO means overpriced and is always ready to take an appointment/emergency. I care for my pets the way I do my own children and people who complain obviously are not willing to care for their pets. Don't go to a board-certified qualified doctor if you are not going to take your pet's life seriously. From my many years of experience, Dr. Ahmed has extensive knowledge and always seeks the best for my pets. I'm truly blessed to have him as my veterinarian, so don't listen to these people who complain because Dr. Ahmed is a veterinarian who will do the best for your pet.
