Alpha Financial Group ripoff 130,000.00 Lotto winner? I think NOT!! Winnipeg Manitoba

I received a letter dated June 11, 2007 along with a check in the amount of $2,996.80 stating that I was selected via a computer ballot drawn from 1,500,000 names in Europe, Asia, and North America and that the check was a sponsor's check assist the clearance of a 130,000.00 lottery winning. I checked with the bank on which the check was drawn, MB Financial Bank of South Holland, IL and the bank verified that the routing and account number was not a valid bank account. I called the contact information that was provided and there was no answer. Please be aware of this scam and don't fall prey to providing your banking information in an attempt to cash these type checks.
