One of our dentists was convinced by the owner of American Academy of Facial Esthetics to contract for a sleep testing unit to test his patients for obstructive sleep apnea. The problem is that MEdicare and other third party insurance companies have guidelines that very clearly indicated that the dentist "DME" can in "NO WAY PARTICIPATE" in the diagnostic process! Guidelines are so clear to states, "The DME may not have the testing equipment picked up or delivered to the patient".

 

The dentist who owns both companies, Louis Malcmacher, is completely ill-informed in the area of dental sleep medicine and is taking complete advantage of dentist attempting to step into the sleep arena and have no clue as to their administrative responsibilities as it pertains to treatment and billing!!

This doctor has ZERO use for a device he can not use! Your organization, Stat DDS, has replied with, "He should have read the contract, he can not return it until his contract is complete". So, essentially, he was sold on a contract for a device, having been told he can use it for diagnostic purposes and has since been advised that this device can NOT be used by the dentist for diagnostic purposes for sleep apnea. Given the fact he was mislead and provided erroneous infromation by AAFE, he should not be held hostage to this agreement, but it is apparnet Stat DDs and American Academy of Facial Esthetics has no concern for their clients and is interested only with collecting $!

If you truly had interest in the best interest of clients, you would accept back this device as this doctor is now compellled to pay your org $300+ per month for something that sits in a closet until such time he can return it! Just this side of bait and switch!!!

I personally contacted your doctor to help him with whatever issues you are having and he has not contacted me after a few days.  Your comments are incorrect below.  We have hundreds of doctors using the AAFE training in this area with the STATDDS program and they are very successful with it.  I will make my offer again directly to your doctor.  We can't help if he does not get back to us.
