What a joke.  I put $2100 on one of these stupid Bluebird cards, which advertises that no fees are charged, but the first time I tried to withdraw money from one of its no-fee terminals I was charged a $2.00 fee.  Im not about to pay for access to my own money, so I tried cancelling the account, but first had to link it with my checking account.  It took three days to get my checking account linked to this ****ing Bluebird account, then when I tried to transfer money, the amount I entered would change to $0.00 after hitting the Next button on the website form.

I called customer support, which is of course in India, and spent over an hour repeating myself to people who barely have command of basic English skills.  After wasting 45 minutes, I was transferred to technical support and was told they didnt know what the problem was, so they opened up a support ticket.  At that point I asked to speak with a supervisor, because I wanted to get my money as far away from those idiots as possible.  I was placed on hold, then the phone line went dead after about 10 minutes.

As I write this review, I have had to call back four different times and have been speaking with a supervisor for 20 minutes, repeating all of the information that I repeated at least three other times.  When the supervisor told me she couldnt do anything to help me get my money out, I asked her, Are you telling me that there is nothing at all you can do to close this account and send me my money? then she replied, We can close your account and send you a check, but that will take 7-10 days.  I guess she could do something after all.  Anyway, I told her to close the account and after she processed the request she said the funds would be transferred back to my checking account within 2-3 days.  So, not only are these people incompetent, they are liars.

bluebird fee charges

Yes they do charge $2.00 even if you have employer direct deposit i have employer direct deposit over $3,000 and i get charged . plus i agree about having to pay to get your own money. They should not be in connection with Ria. Why should I have to pay 6 to $9 to retrieve MY MONEY if i need more that is over the amount that is allotted at the ATM, really?

If your company cannot handle a customer's large direct deposit and afford them the opportunity to retrieve their money. With no charge, then I suggest you. Stop accepting. Large direct deposits.

"advertises that no fees are charged"

Their web site indicates that there are no annual, monthly or overdraft charges. The account fees posted on their web site clearly state that there is a $2.00 charge per ATM withdrawal and they also posted, "Bluebird members never pay surcharge fees at MoneyPass ATMs, including Money Center Express machines at Walmart (but a $2 Amex network fee will apply unless you have Employer Direct Deposit)"

Do you have Employer Direct Deposit?
