American Heritage Insurance Services Gap Insurance Ripoff Miami Springs Florida

My car was totaled at no fault of my own. I had Gap insurance on the loan, which I was under the impression that American Heritage would cover the remainder of my loan after insurance totaled it out.

To my surprise there was around $1200 left on the loan balance and American Heritage wrote out a check for $218. I was told the remainder would be my responsibility. Why did I have Gap Insurance if it didn't cover my payoff? They told me that I had skipped 2 payments (which I had in the past) and they didn't cover that but if I had just not paid the 2 payments so I would have been delinquent then they would have covered them.

Also they took the payment from the insurance company and added my tow bill to that payoff and said that was the amount the insurance company paid on my car. In reality the tow bill went to the tow company for the towing of my car. I was then told to get something from the insurance company stating the exact amount meant for the payoff and they would re-look at my file.

I called to see if they had looked at it to make the correction for the miscalculation of the tow bill and that's when I was informed that they would not re-look at my file because they had already looked at it. I will never again spend the money on Gap Insurance.
