In August of 2003, I purchased a brand new 2003 Honda Civic Si.  I've had very little problems overall with the vehicle considering mileage and use, except for the reason I am filing this report.

The major issue I have is that it seems a couple of the very expensive parts seem to fail early on in the vehicle's life.  The parts I reference are the catalytic converter and the AC compressor.  The catalytic converter I chose not to replace as I was quoted at $1200 to do so.  It failed in 2006, shortly after the ac compressor mentioned below.

The AC compressor failed in 2006.  Only three years into owning the vehicle.  I live in Florida.  Driving without AC is not an option.

The mileage was over on the ac warranty (which I am not entirely sure why AC parts are connected with mileage) for the compressor, and the converter as well but I can understand that one.  I was quoted at $1200 for the compressor repair as well.  Is there a pattern here?  I opted to save for repairing the AC.

I had the repair finalized on 5/7/2007.  My AC was up and running with a brand new Honda compressor.  Today, 5/28/2010, just over three years yet again, my ac compressor failed causing other related damage.  I brought it back to Classic Honda in Orlando Florida, and they quoted me at approx. $2000 to replace the compressor again, and repair the related accessory damage as well.

I inquired as to why the compressors are failing at right about three years, they did not have an answer.  Classic Honda informed me of the Customer Service number for American Honda.  I called American Honda Customer Service to see if they can assist with the $2000 repair of a potential repeat problem occurring at a three year interval, namely the ac compressor.  The refused to acknowledge a problem or resolve the issue.

I have also since filed a complaint with the BBB as an ac compressor should not fail within three years of owning a brand new car, in this case a brand new Honda Civic Si, and not to mention that it has now failed TWICE in the exact same time frame of use.

It's time major corporations stand up and use some common sense when it comes to customer service, and providing customers with quality goods... Honda included!

ok well i have a 2005 honda, 2 years into owning the vehicle my heat went up. i live in maryland and its impossible not to have heat here in the winter. we got a storm so bad this year we couldnt drive on roads for 2 weeks because it was deemed illegal. i thought i was going to lose my toes at times in my element. this year my element stopped starting ...i had to pay norris ford/honda 150.00 to diagnose it and then 800 to fix the starter...i hate honda!!!!!!
