My house burned in October of 2003, just shortly after becoming a new member of Ameriquest to consolidate all my credit card debts. They were never helpful or understanding to my situation, when all they kept requiring is more money from me, when I was already still paying the mortgage on the home I could no longer occupy.

So when my insurance came out and gave me a check to rebuild my home back to its original condition, they handed me a check for $104,000, and told me to find my own contractors. Since the check was in both my name and my mortgage company's name, I had to sign my name, then hand over the check to Ameriquest.

Unfortunately, I was ripped off by the 1st and 2nd contractors I hired on my own, considering I was just recently traumatized, devastated, and being a single woman, I was easy prey for any dishonest contractors. Between the 2 contractors I lost a total of $30,000 of my $104,000.

I tried to explain my situation to Ameriquest on several occassions via fax, via telephone, and out of total frustration of both communications either being ignored or totally disregarded, I made the decision to go down to the main headquarters (or I believe main headquarters) in the Santa Ana office. I produced receipts, contracts, invoices, and proof of payments to these contractors to show Ameriquest where the money went and how it was spent.

Unfortunately, all they did was sympathize with me, although I was not looking for sympathy, I needed my money from them so I can move forward with the construction of my home. They still refuse to relinquish "my money" that was given to them by my insurance company for the construction of my home.

They claim they are only protecting their interst. They fail to realize I am protecting my own interest by continuosly paying the mortgage on that home on time on a monthly basis, in addition to using my "contents money" from my insurance company to keep the project of my home construction going. If I was not protecting my interest, I would have stopped paying on the home 1 1/2 year ago, when it 1st burned down.

Now to this day (3-12-05), my 3rd hired contractors are 75% near completion of my home, and Ameriquest still refuse to relinquish my money to finish the project. Stating, they will give me the rest of the money when the project is completed.

What freakin' sense does that make when the money is for the construction of the home? Since I have fronted the majority of the money for these 3rd contractors to build my home, and continue to pay the mortgage on the home, not to mention that I am now paying an additional mortgage due to my 1 year living expenses expiring 5 months ago. I am extremely broke now

I turn to my mortgage company for help, proving to them that I have no intentions of walking away from a project that I basically invested more money into than they have. They still refuse to give me my money. They employess are so desensitized to my circumstance, and are so rude as if I am asking them to personally dig into their wallets and give me "my" money!!!!!

I am sooooo angry and frustrated with this company, because I feel as if they are purposely trying to set me up for failure. Hoping that if I can't pay for the construction of my home, it will forclose, and I will be at a major loss more than they will, because ultimately they will be paid for the house, one way or another.

Unfortunately, at this time my contractors are forced to stop construction on my home until they see more money. Due to them being paid in phases of the construction, and me paying for each invoice received with very minimal help from Ameriquest, I am now stuck, and trying to figure out a better way of getting my money from them, before I never see a cent of it.

I kinda figured they are holding on to the money not only for a set up for failure, but also to collect interest. So while my money is making them richer, I am getting poorer, only because I want my house built, and my trusty mortgage company refuse to help me. That sucks, and I need some kind of assistance with this matter.
