America Online has screwed me over twice. The first time was years ago when they drafted over $160 from my checking account for minutes that I didn't use because it was supposed to be a free trial. I felt so betrayed. I cancelled the account and didn't deal with them for a year.

Recently, I moved and needed internet connection so I dealt with them again just so I could dial up. I used a free trial disk again. Everything was cool, decided to cancel it once I got high speed connection but it happened to be too late when I called in to cancel. So, I got my account changed to something cheaper monthly and changed my payment method with them because I had just gotten a new checking account and the old one that I originally used with them I was closing. I had just moved to this state and the bank that I banked with had no branches here, banking by mail was tedious, so I just went and opened up a brand new account. I let AOL know this weeks before my first bill was due. The rep assured me that she had switched everything over and that my first bill would come out of my new payment method. When my first bill came out, it came out of the old account which had only like $5 in it because I stopped using it so that I could close it which but that account in the whole because of the overdraft fee. I was so angry.

I talked to a rep online first who was very rude to me and basically told me that's what happens when you don't have money in the account and that I had better put some in or else my AOL account would be suspended. I then called in after talking to this person and the guy was very friendly but could not offer a refund of the overdraft fees, instead he offered me a free month of AOL which was only worth $23 when my overdraft and overdraft fee was more than $23.

AOL sucks...

"AOL sucks..."You have that right Crystal.Aol has ripped off so many people that this site is full of AOL rip off reports.I want to mention some other things that Aol "sucks" about.

1-Their Customer service(Half of them don't speak clear english)

2-Their browser(I had to scroll down half the pages I viewed because of this junk)

3-Their deceptive "Free Trial"(It is not free)

4-Their junk software(It takes forever to get rid of)

5-Their slow Internet service(Got a few decades?)
6-Their misunderstanding of the words "No"and"Cancel"

7-Their theft of money from people's bank accounts.

I feel that their Icon of a man running is probably somebody trying to get away from them.Crystal,If they continue to steal money from you, call a lawyer or the Better Business Bureau.I think that the Ripoff report editor also posted some ideas somewhere.
