In Oct 2004 I accepted an offer from AOL, which stated that I could purchase a computer for $299.99 + s&h or I could go to Office Depot to avoid the s&h fees if I signed up for two years of service, my debit card would be charged $23.90 + a $5.00 service fee, I accepted the offer. But when I went to Office Depot for the $299.99 Computer they said they didn't have anymore that they had ony received 20 of them and the wouldn't be getting anymore, when I asked AOL about them they didn't have anymore either, so I canceled the two year sign up and was offered the 1099 hrs. free for 50 days intead, and once again my card would be debited $23.90 + $5.00 service fee, beginning Feb 3rd 04, so I accepted that offer, however on Dec 18th AOL debited my account for $28.90 + $7.77.

When I called and spoke to an AOL customer service rep and explained, I was told Feb 3rd for my payment to be charged and to cancel that account he apologized for the mistake and said it would not happen again, and offered me a new account, with another 1099 hrs. free for 50 days and a new payment cycle, yea I fell for it,and accepted, but in January 04, my account was charged, before the 50 days free offer had exspired. Both of these early withdrawls caused my account to become overdrawn, my other bills were not paid, so I was charged by my Bank ( Union Bank of Califorina ) who never gave me any insistance in recovering my money by reverseing those charges, I had to by the time I was able to close my accunt I owed the Bank $273.70.

I reported this to the BBB but all I received were letters telling me they contacted AOL and what AOL had to say, this went on for months, then I reported it to the District Attorney's office, nothing happened there either, now I have a prepaid legal Attorney, who doesn't really seem interested in giving me the help I need either, so here I am filing my report here, in hopes that AOL do not get away with what they hav done to me.
