I noticed that I have been getting charged $9.95 a month on my Discover Card since 12/06, actually the day I gave birth to my daughter was the first charge on my credit card statement.
I called today (8/01/07) and cancelled my membership. Funny that I had a membership to cancel. I never signed up for their service. They said that I signed up through a website for Potpourri.com.
I sure didn't order anything after giving birth, so I find all of this to be a big scam. I never received a membership number or any membership packet like their website says. I would like my money back, but "Chris" who cancelled my "membership" wasn't giving that back.
He did tell me I can access my benefits until the end of this last month. Whoa lucky me. Maybe I will be resigned up if I used them. I will not do that. It took about 20-30 minutes of listening to their hold message to finally get a human to cancel. I find it disgraceful, because I know I never received anything from them, it took me a while to finally question this mysterious charge.
Be careful when you buy things on the internet is the moral of this scam.

Shopping Essentials Saved Me $$$$

I have read a lot of negative reports re:Shopping Essentials and either I was really lucky or what, I don't know. We signed up 2 yrs ago at a cost of (I think) 9.95 for a 30 day trial. Then I think it was 90.00 for the year. We only Just discontinued our membership because the fee was now 179.00 a year (now it was not worth it to us) While we had it, I could order gift cards to stores like Sears, Pennys, Walgreens, Target, Sports Authority, etc. The cards were for 25.00, charged to a Visa, then a 5.00 chargeback per card would show up on my Visa statement. I am VERY watchful and ALWAYS received my cedits in the same month I bought the gift cards. If I ordered 200.00 in JCPenny card,100.00 in Walgreen, and 200.00 in K-Mart cards, I DID get 100.00 credited back. The only drawback was in 12 months time, you could only order 20 of any one stores cards. Shopping Essentials also offered other services which I never took advantage of. I also had no problem cancelling and if I could find a way of joining again at 9.95 a month, I would.

I was reading through some other complaints from this Shopping Essentials company and everyone seems to get the customer service representative Chris (ID#26393). I am sure this is one or two guys racking in the dough they fraudulently got credit card numbers for, amazing. I think the media needs to be notified.
