AP9 TODAYSESCAPES UNAUTHORIZED CREDIT CARD CHARGES - DECEPTIVE MARKETING Norwalk Conn

After my wife had called a TV advertiser (not TodayEscapes) to order a sweeper, she later noticed that a charge of $19.95 had been appearing on our credit card bill monthly. I called the company to ask what this was all about, and was told that they were a "Shopping Club", to which she had enrolled when she called about the sweeper. They stated that she had agreed to join their club (not true), and that the $19.95 was the monthly "dues". They went on to say that they had mailed us a membership kit, which was again not true. They had apparently obtained the credit card number from the company selling the sweeper, and used it to charge us for the membership. I am contesting the charges through American Express, and am also in the process of sending a letter to the Better Business Bureau in Norwalk, Conn.

Be very careful when ordering anything from a TV ad, and pay close attention to the credit card statements if you do.
