I had a legal dispute and needed to speak with a lawyer. I contacted ARAG and they put me in touch with someone in their network. The ARAG lawyer I was assigned was of limited help to me because he could not advise me on the strength of my case nor was he interested in representing me because he felt the amount of money involved was too low.

I called ARAG again explained my situation. I needed a lawyer who could either represent me
or assist me in preparing my case for self-representation in arbitration. The ARAG service representative I spoke with told me that the best ARAG could do at this point was to send me a list of lawyers and I would have to randomly contact one of them on my own. The list of lawyers that I was sent charged a minimum of $122 per hour and there was absolutely no guidance from ARAG as to which one would be able to best help me.  There was also no guarantee that any one of them would be willing or able to assist me.

I tried to explain my situation again to the ARAG service representative but again he said that there was NOTHING more ARAG could do for me other than give me a list of lawyers. ARAG did not even provide any useful materials or documents from their much advertised members-only online law library.

When I signed up for ARAG I was under the understanding that I would be provided personalized guidance and help for my legal problems. Instead ARAG produced a generic list of attorneys that I could have gotten for FREE from my state bar association or other free legal websites like Nolo.com or Lawyers.com. Also when I signed up I was told that ARAG had exclusive self-help
documentation available only to ARAG members. Again the ARAG library was a joke! It contained generic information that could have been read/downloaded for free without membership on many other free legal websites.

I tried contacting ARAG to voice my disappointment a week ago, and I still have yet to hear back from them. So much for their award-winning customer service. ARAG is a ripoff and provides no real value for your hard earned money.
