This place is a waste of time, a waste of money, and a major headache. I was guaranteed that this would work and that it would not hit my credit, well it hasn't worked yet and it has hit my credit. This place is very unprofessional, it is a small little building with a few offices and a dirty smelly bathroom.

As soon as you walk in, you feel out of place. There are two old couches that look like they came from a dumpster, seriously these couches are like 100 years old and they smell. It REAKS HORRIBLE in there!

Smells like someone lit a carton of cigarettes and just left them to burn inside the building, that or they sprayed cigarette air freshener. The two ladies (well I cant even call them ladies more like trailer trash hood rats) they would both go on their little breaks and smoke right in front of the entry door and one of them was PREGNANT! Pregnant, belly showing, piercings all over the place and a cigarette in her mouth just puffing away (Feel bad for the baby, seriously WHO DOES THIS?!).

By the way those two ladies were both fired for stealing the little bit of money that Ken Volk seems to also steal from his clients (now you know where they get it from). Then he hired another lady (also trailer trash white w/ nails longer than my fingers), she too smokes, isn't prego but is no better than the last two. I have to say the only decent looking person there is Jesse (if he's still there, haven't seen him in a while).

Also, he has like old newspaper articles back from when his business was probably doing good. I do not see not one recent article on his 'wall of fame.' That shows that he hasn't done what he says he does in a long freaking time. Seriously who cares about what happend 5 years ago, I want to know how well you're doing now.

I paid them a portion of my rent and had to pay a process server to deliver the "initial ordeal" and the keys. Since then I've had to visit the post office on 10 or more different occasions to send certified mail return receipt to the apartments, the apartments attorney, the apartments collection agency and also (since its on my credit,) the credit bureaus. (This costs money.!) Let's not forget the gas I waste to get there.

This place has lied to me, I would have been better off at the apartments. Every time I call there I feel rushed, like they don't want to talk to me, they just want to get you in there. If you ask to speak to Ken, they tell you that he's with a client, is busy, is not there, or simply he doesn't take calls. (Who does that, if they were legit they would be more than glad to assist you over the phone.?!)

Oh ya and when you're sitting in the couch just waiting to be called in to the "receptionist office/s" (which by the way never happens, you always have to barge in there) you can hear the lady telling the people on the phone the exact same thing that they told you when you asked to speak to Ken, but get this Ken is there, he's either with his daughter, getting water, or outside about to take his precious bike on a cruise.

They tell you that everything is going to be fine, that they get these types of letters all the time. They will work on it and get everything taken care of. They set you up with BS appointments, (which you always have to reschedule for one reason or the other).

Do not go here, it's a waste. Wait it out, and if you are that desperate to get out then hire a lawyer, I would rather have a debt with a lawyer and pay him/her in payments rather than having an outrageous amount of money on my credit. And if Ken decides to do the whole rebuttal thing, that's fine, but don't waste your time reading it you're going to get lost by all the fancy words, the long paragraphs, and the extensive amounts of laws that he uses. I'm just keeping it real.

I agree with the original poster

AUTHOR: Pamela - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, April 02, 2012

I had set an appointment to meet with this company, despite all the horrible stories I have read about the company and Ken Volk.  Since I am a paralegal myself, I wanted to know who I was dealing with beforehand, and checked out their standing with the Arizona Supreme Court. Lo and behold, Ken Volk's Legal Document Preparer license has been revoked due to multiple complaints.  Oh well, I went to the appointment anyway.

I tried to keep an open mind as I stepped into this house that was pretending to be an office. I overlooked the fact that it was nestled in one of the shabbier neighborhoods in Tempe. But what I was unable to overlook was the instant rush of sheer unprofessionalism I was met with as I entered the parlor.  Not only was it every bit as horrifying as the OP described, the owner Ken Volk greeted me dressed in a tee shirt, shorts, and flip flops.  He introduced me to his assistant, who was also wearing shorts, tee shirt and flip flops, plus several days growth of beard,  AND a backwards baseball cap.  This was THE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL office I have ever seen. I wanted to flee!

Ken Volk invited me to sit on the shabby sofa next to his mangy cat. I refused.  He then left the room and left me with the guy who doesn't know which end of a baseball cap is the front, who proceeded to give me all kinds of legal advice.  Legal advice??  Hello.... that is illegal.  It's called unauthorized practice of law and it's a felony!

After listening to this bozo prattle on about how they would be able to void my lease with no recourse, I brought up the fact that Ken's CLDP license had been revoked.  His response was to try to tell me that it was "not actually revoked" because they were appealing.  Sorry Bozo, but I know better.  Your license is revoked, period.   You have passed the window for an appeal. You are finished. I wasted no time in reporting them to the Supreme Court licensing division.

I am grateful to mother nature for giving me intelligence enough to walk out of this scam operation without wasting any more time than I had to, and more importantly, any money.

I hope people read this before buying into their scam!

I am Monica with long fingernails. Who are you, O NAMELESS ACCUSER ?

AUTHOR: Azgoddezz - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, December 29, 2009

I am Monica with long fingernails.  Who are you, O NAMELESS ACCUSER ?

The NAMELESS ACCUSER acts like she knows this business, but I have worked at Arizona Tenants Advocates for two years.  But the only specific thing she says about me is that I have long fingernails.  So what?

And so what about everything else that NAMELESS ACCUSER claims.  Listen, my bosss job is to prepare legal documents, and he does that better than anyone I have ever met, including attorneys.  In every case we meet deadlines so that the letters get the tenants out of their leases.  I am positive my boss got out NAMELESS ACCUSERs letters on time too, because she did not indicate otherwise.

The stuff she indicated are either untrue or ridiculous:

1.  The couches are old.  Who cares?  We try to make our service affordable, and if that means we have used furniture, it is in the best interest of our clients.

2.  The couches smell.  That is not true.  I should know, because I am the one who most recently shampooed them.  Since reading NAMELESS ACCUSERs diatribe, Ive asked my clients, and they all agree the couches do not smell.

3.  The office smells like cigarette smoke.  Untrue.  Nobody ever smokes in the office.

4.  The pregnant lady smoked cigarettes.  Oh my God, what business is this of yours, lady?  Does this have anything to do with the work we did for you?

5.  I smoke cigarettes, and am trailer trash.  NAMELESS ACCUSER is nothing but an ignorant, stuck-up snob.  Not only do I do my job well, and am appreciated for it, but in fact I am taking courses in pre-law.  By the way, I always smoke my cigarettes on the other side of the parking lot.

6.  My boss steals from his clients.  You know nothing.  My boss is the most honest, self-sacrificing person I have ever met.  He will pay his business bills and payroll before he pays his home bills.  Your insinuation otherwise is despicable.

7.  The newspaper articles on the wall are old.  Okay, but again, so what?  If NAMELESS ACCUSER had reviewed the book we have in the waiting room, she would see more up-to-date articles.

8.  The work involved a lot of letters.  Well, that shows that our business did what we were supposed to do.  Obviously, NAMELESS ACCUSER came for many appointments, and got the products our office prepared.  She does not deny it.

9.  NAMELESS ACCUSER has to use gas to get to our office, but complains that my boss rides a bike to get around.  Get real.  We have an office where our business is conducted.  If NAMELESS ACCUSER has a problem with using fuel, then she should ride a bike like my boss does.

10.  We lied to NAMELESS ACCUSER.  She feels rushed to come for appointments.  She is frustrated that my boss does not answer the phones.  We do not lie, but are up front about everything involved in our program.  We bring people in for appointments because that is the best way for us to evaluate circumstances, and then get the work done.  It is my job to answer the phones, not my bosss.  He personally reviews all letters that go out, with the customer present.  He will ask any questions he needs to prepare the documents.  That is his job, and he could not do his job if he were doing mine.

11.  NAMELESS ACCUSER is offended that my boss has a life.  Listen lady, we get the work done.  My boss works countless hours on each file.  That he spends time doing other things is none of your business.  You really sound like your life is totally frustrated.

12.  We deal with these letters all the time, and work on them to get everything taken care of.  True.  We are familiar with our work, and meet our obligations.  That is a good thing.

13.  We set up BS appointments, which always need rescheduling.  Sure, sometimes appointments get rescheduled.  We would love to be more efficient, but we are human.  And sometimes we must reschedule either due to the client not having done everything required, or because emergency cases come up that must take precedence.  But the fact is, NAMELESS ACCUSER admitted that we did many different letters for her at different stages, so obviously she had numerous appointments that bore fruit.  We could confirm that if she were to disclose who she is instead of hiding behind her anonymity.  She likes to accuse, but wont give us the opportunity to specifically refute.  That is unethical.

14.  NAMELESS ACCUSER recommends hiring a lawyer, and says not to read my bosss rebuttal.  I will personally tell you that no lawyer would do the work my boss does, no matter how much you pay.  No lawyer would get the positive results that my boss regularly does, nor would a lawyer deal with the follow-up issues, when required, like my boss does.  Again, I think it is unethical for NAMELESS ACCUSER to make accusations and then tell people not to read the response.  Anyway, this response is from me, and I stand by it completely and transparently with nothing to hide.  Like I said, Ive worked for my boss for two years now, so I know the scoop.  No fancy words, long paragraphs, and law citations.  Thats my bosss way, and its a good way too.
