We are a franchisee in a large, national temporary labor franchise.  This Florida company called us to help unload a truck in SC, 2 hours from our nearest office.  We sent workers who did such a good job, the company asked us to help them with general labor to renovate townhouses they manage in SC.  We sent them workers for 3 weeks, with no complaints, only compliments.  Our invoices were due within 7 days, but they never paid a dime of the $9,000 they owed. After six weeks of being promised payment and receiving nothing, I spoke with Stevyn Muller, their VP, who, by the way,  is a real jerk.  He personally promised me full payment only to conveniently "forget" that promise 2 weeks later. Then we got notice that they were now claiming that our workers damaged a refrigerator and stole janitorial items and they were "backcharging" us for $2,700. When I asked for proof, they had none.  When I asked for names, they provided none.  When I asked for witness, they had none.  And the guy making the allegations (Stevyn Muller) lived in Florida. Their guy supervising our workers never said a word to us. And, even though there were many other companies on site that could have allegedly stolen the items (including a janitorial company), I offered a $1,700 credit.  Which they refused.   Any honest company would have paid the undisputed portion, or accepted the compromise,  but these people are just liars who make up excuses to not pay legitimate bills.  They still haven't paid a dime of the $9,000 they owe us.  They also owe $10,000 to another temporary labor franchisee in another state and aren't even trying to make up lies.....they are just not paying.

Work for them at your own risk.

Still more lies

No employees were "sleeping in closets, stealing, fighting" or "intoxicated". No one from the property witnessed that, so saying it does not make it true, Mr. Muller.  As I previously stated, all work tickets were signed by the AGC superintendent with nothing but positive comments. And no-one from AGC made this ridiculous claim until the work was done and the invoices were more than 60 days past due. I did contact the "property staff" after speaking with Mr. Muller, and they did confirm the damages, but never claimed that it was due to LF personnel.  In fact, they told me that there were many other subcontractors with easier access to the property who were more likely to have been responsible than our workers who were under the direct supervision of the AGC superintendent. Despite that, I was still willing to offer this company a $1,683.69 credit (one of the only true statements made by Mr. Muller) which is almost 20% off their total bill and more than 1/2 of what they wanted.  But he rejected it because it was $316.31 short of what they wanted. Yes, 316 dollars. We are now 10 months past when the work was done and they have YET to pay a dime, despite repeated verbal and written promises from Mr. Muller himself.  They didn't even pay the undisputed portion!  By the way, regarding the other Labor Finders office that AGC has used....they haven't been paid either.  And if you google Artistic General Contractors, you will find other subcontractors with similar stories.  Again, work for them at your own risk.

Failure to Take Responsibility

Artistic General Contracting (AGC) disputes the balance claimed as oustanding by Labor Finders(LF). LF's workers did in excess of $2,886.06 in damages on the project. AGC has used LF on several occaisions in the past with relatively good results. Unfortunately, in this instance the experience was very different. LF workers had to be removed from the project for sleeping in closets, stealing, fighting, and intoxication. The events and damages were well documented and verified by the property staff.

AGC provided LF with an  accounting summary of the following items stolen/damaged by LF workers; one new refrigerator, 100 locking clips for artwork, artwork, cleaning supplies for 16 units, and 1 exterior flood light. All receipts, invoices, and associated pictures of the stolen/damaged items were provided to LF for review. I discussed the matter with Mr. Richard Fields president of LF of South Carolina via phone and offered to reduce the backcharges of $2,886.06 to $2,000 and he said he would have to get back to me. Mr. Fields contacted the property and verified the damages with the staff. Mr. Fields offfered a settlement of $1,683.69. I explained that I could not go that low. I stated that the lowest I could go would be $2,000, his response was  " that is not going to happen."

AGC has been contacted by attorneys and collection agencies regarding the outstanding balance claimed by LF. AGC has responded to each inquiry by providing them with the same detail, documentation, and pictures of the damages. I never heard back from any of the numerous inquiries after they reviewed the documentation. This is a simple matter of failing to accept responsibilty for your employees poor performance not part of a larger conspiracy as indicated by LF.
