I signed up for the "Aspire Card" in response to a mailer I had gotten after applying for a card thru my credit union. I looked over the information, and decided that I would get this card and use it for a few months, paying it off on statement dates. This was on March 10.

I recieved my card on March 20th, and after I opened the account paid my initial fees - "membership" fees.

My card was finally validated on March 27 and I was able to use it. I came home from a trip I took to see my sister and I had only used my card for gasoline. I hadn't used my card since I had come back home.

I hadn't received a statement yet, but I figured my account was due, so on 4/12 I submitted a payment of $306.89 - the full balance due on my account. I was able to use my card on 4/12 but then on 4/19, as I was attempting to buy groceries as I had cash on me, but it wasn't enough, so I decided to use my card. It was DECLINED. TWICE.

I called my card, the voice prompt insisted that I had made a payment of $306.89 on 4/13, but that my card had a balance of $399 due. My limit was $300! I went to the ATM and took money out of my savings account to pay for my groceries, and after I left the store I called Card Services.

After holding for 10 minutes, I got a woman who could barely speak english, but I guess that's normal. She didn't understand what I wanted was to know what is going on with my account. She just keeps insisting that I hadn't made a payment.

I asked her multiple times what was the best time of the day to call, when they aren't so busy, but she wouldn't answer me. How frustrating!

I called again today, 4/20 and my balance due is now up to $435. I haven't made any charges, I obviously can't. I understand the concept of fees, etc, but this is ridiculous! The customer service girl was literally laughing as she tried to explain things to me, and ultimately told me that my account had been cancelled on the 18th. Why didn't the other woman tell me this the day before?

Absolutely ridiculous. NEVER open an account th "Aspire" they are unethical! I still haven't recieved a bill, and my billing date was supposed to be 4/17. I paid on 4/12, I don't get why I am being penalized for making my payment early?

I am disputing their "membership fees" as they didn't keep their end of the deal. I have paid for my purchases, but I am not going to be pushed around just because I fell prey to a seemingly innocent small bank credit card company. NEVER AGAIN!
