I renewed my appliance contract in February 2013 with Atlas Services.  My contract included replacement parts and/or appliance.   My garbage disposal all of a sudden stopped working.  I called to request a service technician to come to check it out.  I was lucky enough to get one the same day.

The tech arrived and "fixed" the disposal.  Unfortunately, the disposal now made a loud noise which was not there when it was working.  I showed my tech my contract with included replacement up to $75.00 replacement.  He went to his truck and returned with a box and replaced my disposal.  It was beautifully silent.

Two days later I receive a bill in the amount of $84.00 net.  The invoice indicated the replacement unit was a disposal 1/3 hp and this replaced my disposal 1/2 hp.  Atlas charged me $150.00 gross for my replacement.

I went on Amazon and found out that a 1/2 hp new disposal can be bought at a cost of $50.00 to $80.00 and a 1/2 hp went for $100.00 and a 3/4 hp went for $140.00. 

I called Atlas (twice) as soon as I received the invoice and said I had a problem with the invoice I had received.  They would have Christine call me back.  I never received a call back so I went on their web site and wrote my problem to them under contact us. 

Again no answer/call back.  Got in touch with the Better Business Bureau who apparently contacted them and guess what...  Christine finally called me back.  Unfortunately i was not home at the time so I called her back.

The bottom line is:  there is no proof that the replacement was a new unit since I never received the vendor's warranty postcard (I was told there are none in regard to disposals) and she also said that there were errors on the invoice as my original disposal was 1/3 hp even though her invoice has 1/2 hp. 

I did offer to pay $42.00 as a result of the errors and to just get rid of this incident but Ms. Kimberly said there was no negotiation and then hung up on me.

 ATLAS SERVICES PERFORMED ACCORDING TO THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE SERVICE CONTRACT WHICH THE CUSTOMER AGREED TO. OUR PRICE FOR THE PART WITH INSTALLATION IS $150.00, THE SERVICE CONTRACT COVERED UP TO $75.00 OF THE PART. THE CUSTOMER WAS ADVISED UP FRONT PRIOR TO ANY WORK BEING COMPLETED. ATLAS SERVICE INSTALLED THE PART WITH THE CUSTOMERS PERMISSION AND IT IS WORKING GREAT.
